Friendly staff, strange location and below-average food at restaurant

Why-do-you-want-my-name Families - Confirmed reviews ALL

Stayed 3 nights as part of a group traveling from Malaysia. The rooms were fine although a bit noisy from the construction next door at night. The area itself is a bit odd and not very near to the airport. The food at the restaurant is not great, which is not something I usually note or complain about. But the experience here was surprisingly poor. The 'half roast chicken' served to me was actually a pan fried chicken breast. The 'patty melt' was actually just a cheeseburger with no tomato. Everything except the "roast chicken" or salmon (unavailable) on the "western" menu comes with either chips or chips. There are no vegetables. I ended up just going to Aeon and buying pre-made maki rolls and instant noodle, which was much nicer than the food at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was not great considering the size of the buffet. Pancakes and waffles were burnt or black due to a dirty griddle/waffle iron. There were three types of white rice each day, but one choice of fish to put on top of it. Pre-made scrambled egg nothing inside omelette or fried egg are the only egg choices. Potatoes were too salty and overcooked. Sausages were fine, but for some reason you had to ask the cook if you wanted beef bacon? Bread selection was minimal and there is no jam, peanut butter or kaya to put on top. Cereal selection in the jars behind reception is far better than that actually available (3 choices: rice puff, rice flake, chocolate flake). Coffee machines constantly broken and very dirty with spilled milk. Breakfast menu did not change over the time I stayed at the hotel.

During a business meeting in Jakarta my university hosts assigned me to this hotel - and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. Some distance from the airport and located in the new business district, this hotel sparkles with elegant design and utterly professional standards at all levels. The welcome was warm and very informative. The room spotless, functional and extremely well equipped. Standards of hygiene were exceptionally high and elevator access was quite swift. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh cooked Indonesian dishes as well as an omelette bar and a selection of waffles. More fresh fruit would be welcome however. The general ambience was lovely and there is a great swimming pool and access to a tropical garden. The hotel is an oasis of calm and peacefulness. Thoroughly restful stay and made all the better by a highly professional staff team. Highly recommended!
