Have stayed in the Fairmont Gold rooms at the Fairmont Singapore consistently over the last four years because of the incredible staff. Led by Sam, the team always welcomes me warmly and remembers my preferences, from how I like the breakfast eggs cooked to my drink order during Cocktail Hour. As I arrived this time before 7am, Syakirah was most kind to arrange for an early check-in, following up with housekeeping on my behalf so I could rest and freshen up before my lunch meeting. Qiqi, Alan, Zach, Jeremiah and Ivan were fantastic as always. (I’m sure I forgot to mention a couple of the team members, but every one of them is fabulous.) … and the rooms with views of Marina Bay Sands are great too.

I had high hopes for my stay at the Fairmont Singapore, but unfortunately it turned out to be a major disappointment. Before making my reservation, I specifically chose this hotel because I expected my Accor Platinum status to be recognised and valued. Instead, the only benefit we received was two welcome drink vouchers, which we didn’t even end up using. Overall, the Platinum recognition felt minimal and fell well below what I’ve experienced at other Accor properties. I would encourage senior management to spend a night at the Mövenpick in Bintan or even the Mercure Bugis in Singapore to see how Platinum members can be made to feel genuinely welcome and appreciated. The difference in recognition and hospitality is remarkable. Sadly, this stay did not meet my expectations, and it has been a valuable lesson. Regrettably, I won’t be returning.
