Stayed a couple of times at the Fairmont Singapore in 2025 and my latest stay was from 25 to 28 January 2026. I booked a Signature Suite for 2 and although I am an Accor Explorer Diamond member, I was neither given any upgrade nor early check-in. I was also not asked if I required a late checkout. In fact, we were made to wait an hour after arriving at 2 in the afternoon so we asked for a keycard so that we could go back to the lounge to have a late lunch instead. The only acknowledgement I received for my loyalty was on the letter that was thrust into my hands in my room. So much for being a ‘treasured’ member and for my loyalty. Perhaps being able to check-in at the Gold Lounge is the luxury hotel’s acknowledgement of status? At least that’s what I thought that afternoon. The first suite we were given was Room 2513. It is on the North tower where the rooms have not been renovated according to Google. As it was on the second highest floor and as we were given the room that we have paid for, I guess I was already contented. However, upon entering the room, we were greeted by a gust of hot and humid air. It was obvious that the room had been left vacant for a good while. Hence, the lady who checked us in and told us that no room was available either wasn’t being entirely forthcoming or the previous preferred the room to be baked in Singapore’s climate. Or, she just wanted us to wait. This isn’t our first experience with her and this appears to be her style. I turned on the air-conditioner in Room 2513 and set the fan speed to high. Two hours later and after suffering from the sweltering heat, we headed back to the lounge for our evening canapé. It was then that we discovered that the temperature in the corridor was way way cooler than that in our room by at least 2°C. By then we had already dialed 0 to ask for help with the air-conditioning. I also let the lady who checked us in know that the room was really humid. The engineering team visited the room but there was no improvement to the air-conditioning issue. After my wife had left for home because she knows she couldn’t sleep in that heat, I was finally granted a change of room. This time, I was given Room 2618. A Signature Gold suite. But it was on the North tower. Although I was given an upgrade by fluke, I shall pretend that the hotel has finally acknowledged my Diamond status. Room 2618 is much nicer, better renovated and the air-conditioning at least works. The room telephone was without a cable so I couldn’t make any call should help be needed. This is about safety so I hope Fairmont Singapore looks into it. Fortunately, not all is lost, although the lady who checked me in was less than welcoming (this is not the first time that she has made us wait and didn’t ask of we required late checkout or parking), the Gold Lounge still enjoys the service of a good team headed by Mr Sam. Other outstanding staff in the lounge includes the very pleasant Jeremiah and the youthful-looking James. Jeremiah always serves with a smile and is courteous and attentive while James looked after us very well – preparing and introducing different mocktails to us and he has really enhanced our happy hour experiences. I also chanced upon to meet the friendly director of room, Ms Jean Wong, who is super welcoming and warm hence negating the negativity we initially had to endure. I also congratulated her for the hardworking team in the lounge and would like to thank the hotel for the bunch of grapes – it is so much better than the over ripened prunes (Room 2417 13 Oct 2025) and the frightening biscuits that require an acquired taste. Fairmont Singapore prides itself as a luxury hotel but, like all hotels, its quality and the guest experience lie with how the staff carry out their duties. Let’s hope that my next stay in March would yield a better experience. Its always the check-in. First impression lasts. I hope someone can run through the benefits of an Accor Explorer Diamond member with the check-in lady. Please do not get me wrong. Neither do I require nor expect to be treated with royalty but as a staff member handling check in and guest matters, it is important that the staff is familiar with the product she is representing. Check out was handed by Ms Syakirah. She was exemplary - passing a room key back to me just in case I still needed to go back to the room. This is hospitality max. Well, at least it ended on a positive note.

I highly recommend Rani for a massage. She is very intuitive, friendly and speaks 3 languages. She makes you feel comfortable and relaxed and checks in regularly about the pressure she is using. Very professional

I stayed at Fairmont Singapore with my partner, and we truly loved our time there. A large part of this review focuses on the Gold Lounge, as it clearly defined our stay. From arrival to check-out, the experience felt exceptional. It was calm, personal and genuinely attentive without ever feeling staged. Breakfast in a relaxed setting, the evening cocktail hours and throughout the day a constant sense of being welcome. That really made the difference. The Gold Lounge itself offers a great selection of food and drinks and very good champagne. Most importantly, the team feels warm and sincere rather than distant or routine. You feel recognised, almost like being among friends. I would have liked to mention individual names, but honestly, everyone we interacted with was great. This review is meant as a thank-you to the entire team. The location is another big plus, with direct MRT access right beneath the building. We stayed in a high-floor suite with fantastic views. While it is not brand new, it was very well maintained, high quality and very comfortable overall. A particularly lovely touch was the luggage transfer fully arranged by the Gold Lounge team when we moved on to Swissôtel The Stamford. We arrived to find our bags already waiting in the room. A stay we will remember, mainly because of the wonderful team. We’d definitely come back.
