Stay at Raffles Singapore for my birthday.

Whilst staying in Raffles Singapore I booked the history tour of the hotel. My guide was Nazaimoddin Yusof, a knowledgeable and informative gentleman with a friendly and agreeable manner. I would highly recommend this tour as there are many items around the hotel that have important meaning to its history such as the gramophone, chandelier and grandfather clock. Seeing the presidential suite was the highlight of my tour. Seeing a part of the hotel I thought I could only dream of made me realise the room I was staying in was just a smaller version of it but the staff in the hotel are what make the hotel outstanding. Everyone from the doorman, front desk staff to the butler in my room may be feel welcome. Rafffles Singapore should be proud to have Nazaimoddin Yusof and all the other staff who made my stay so exceptional as ambassadors of their hotel.

Great history tour

If you're a guest at Raffles you get to sign yup for a history tour of the hotel. Nazir Yusof, the resident historian, has been at the hotel for more than 50 years and can tell amazing stories about the changes and the guests who have stayed over. Highly recommend!

An icon with an elite only vibe - more could enjoy it - even if in parts of it only

An icon for sure - more than an icon. But beware if you want to visit it and are not dressed "for success" as one is politely just about barred from entry. The heat in this city can be oppressive to the n'th degree and if one has been walking all over the city one will look unkempt to an extent. Returned another day for the Singapore Sling experience - but has a touch of the elite only vibe to the location - worth the visit or the stay - but a touch too "colony" history and only admitted if well to do vibe.

A beautiful classic afternoon tea to celebrate my 60th birthday. The sandwiches, pastries, cakes and scones were all delicious as were the range of teas Extra sandwiches were offered and provided, scones offered too. We had a bottle of champagne The venue is simply stunning and service outstanding. We followed up with a Singapore Sling in the Long bar.
