Very relaxing, the hotel staff was very attentive. My only comment would be about the dinner service. Waiter and host warrant very helpful. Breakfast on the other hand was amazing and our serve Jaja was very accommodating. Vitor who works at the pool bar also went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

The Santa Teresa Hotel RJ - MGallery hotel is on a hillside overlooking the historic Santa Teresa neighborhood and not far from Rio's iconic Selaron Steps [Escadaria Selarón]. A former coffee plantation, this boutique hotel is the ideal counter programming to a big hotel stay on the Copacabana ocean front. With fewer than 40 rooms, the setting is intimate and calm. Set around a lovely garden and pool area, its a place you might expect to find a movie star or two hiding behind dark glasses. We loved the spa and the pool. Both were charming. We had nice (if uneven) dinner in the Hotel's restaurant and found many things to like. The breakfast was huge and delicious. Our room was on the main corridor first floor, with a terrace opening on a second smaller courtyard. We enjoyed looking out at the view, but it wasn't all that private. The room is simple but comfortable. I expect about ten years ago when it was designed it was the peak of chic minimalism. Today the appointments felt a bit worn out (scrapes, scuffs, dings and cracks). A Nespresso coffee maker and good bed linens make up for a lot. The soap and lotions were good and Brazilian. I would certainly stay here again. Once a member of the prestigious Relais et Chateau system, this hotel only recently joined Accor/Sofitel world. The highlight of our visit was really the service team. All friendly and very good. They are the real stars of this property. Just a great friendly welcoming attitude that made venturing out in a pandemic a real pleasure.

The hotel is very cute and the building has history which adds to the charm of the experience. The staff is lovely from the reception at check-in to the waiters and gardeners. The hotel is located in a great area of Rio if you don't want to stay in the busy part of town. The neighbourhood is vibrant, colourful and really animated at night. It's completely safe to walk around and the choice of restaurant, bars and little shops is very interesting. We had a great time here. We will come back. Oh and the breakfast is very generous and delicious.

The staff was friendly and attentive but some of the rooms were dirty and smelled stale. The menu desgustaçao was pricey and the food mediocre. The breakfast was great but the bar at the pool had problems with the system so we had to wait a very long time to pay the bill. Since the day we were staying was raining, there was nothing else to do. For the price paid I expected a way better experience.

anniversary celebration. Stayed at the hotel for a night, dined at the Tereze restaurant and relaxed at the pool (which was a great experience by itself) before returning home in the afternoon.

Outstanding experience at the hotel. Impeccable room, helpful and proactive staff. On a negative note, the restaurant Therese, let us down. Service was poor given the small staff ( long waits) and food ( dinner) was subpar to the level we were used.

Amazing room, great comfort, the only problem we found was the food. Not many options and some not very good. Being in a "isolated" location and not very safe to walk around at night, the options were very disappointing. The service in the restaurant as well, staff very confused with the exception to 2 women, who were very nice.

The Hotel needs maintenance. Paint, chairs... The staff is wonderful but the they can’t be a justification for the la l of attention to detail. It was a great boutique hotel, I hope it comes back.

Receptionists were great. I think the hotel is overrated. Humidity is a problem. Big problem. We woke with wet clothes. We were not able to balance hot and cold water in addition to that.

We were recommended to stay at the Santa Teresa hotel and it was just the best. Situated up the hill from the beaches, it is easy to get to (and ignore the comments about taxis not wanting to go there because of the cobbles) it is an oasis of calm, yet within easy reach of everything. The tram stops about 200 metres away and whisks you into Centro is about 15 minutes, where the Metropolitan Cathedral in a ‘must see’. Taxis are easy for the beaches, Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf. Uber is everywhere and very reliable. Special mentions for the receptionists who were always helpful and willing to organise anything (Victor and Natalie were especially brilliant). The restaurant is excellent and must rank as one of the best in Rio. Daniel was a great server, knowledgeable and efficient. The pool is swimmable because it is an oblong shape, so good for exercise as well and the cool stuff. All in all, a great place to stay where you can avoid the excess commercialism of the beaches yet be close to all that you need.

We enjoyed our four nights in the spacious and attractively decorated loft suite which has a superb view over the city. Service very efficient and warm. Front desk charmingly helpful. Restaurant first rate for breakfast and dinner.

We had the worst experience we have ever had!! We arrived to the Mama Shelter hotel after we liked a lot the pictures on booking .. We got an “upgrade” for a room in the ground level. The room had no windows and no air circulation, also the water in the shower smells bad. The worst part was arriving at night to our room, hearing weird noises from the trash can that didn’t stopped- we found out a MOUSE inside (probably the primary resident in the room).. I was so horrified!! We went to the reception, and the reception worker came to the room, saw the mouse, and we had to pack all our belongings and move to a different room in the middle of that rainy night (another one with no air circulation). Even though we asked on the day of arrival to extend our stay, we asked to leave in the morning after sleepless night. The Mama shelter hotel manager said she want to give us free caipirinha πzza as compensation.. when we said it’s not a reasonable compensation for this kind of situation (had no hotel for the rest of our stay in Rio and had a terrible night) she talked to her manager Lyudmila- the Santa Teresa manager, and asked us to move for the Santa Teresa hotel (a 5 stars hotel). We arrived and Ludmila was at first really nice , told us she understands our feeling , that this situation is horrible and she invites us to stay in the Santa Teresa hotel for the rest of our stay. On the next morning she asked us to pay 50% from the Santa Teresa hotel rate if we would like to stay for the rest of our stay (when a day before she invited us to the same hotel as part of the compensation). Also Lyudmila told us she talked with the reception worker who didn’t come to the room and never saw a mouse.. the very same mouse who ruined our first night in Rio. As travelers , who sleep in all kinds of properties :5 stars hotels, boutique hotels and all kinds of accommodation we felt so humiliated to be in this kind of situation, and AGAIN, had NO accommodation for the rest of our stay. We experienced our stay uncomfortable because of this situation, and mainly from how it was managed. We asked a refund for the sleepless night we had a mouse in our room at the Mama Shelter but haven’t got it back
