My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent four-night stay at the Santa Teresa Hotel in Rio. I had been to Rio a few times for work but this was my first visit for fun as well as my husband’s first trip to Rio. While I asked to stay in Copacabana, our travel agent suggested staying in nearby Santa Teresa instead and at this specific hotel. What a great idea. A safe retreat in an artsy neighborhood with restaurants and shops an easy walk away. The hotel itself is a beautiful restored historic former coffee plantation, a nice oasis from the busy-ness of Rio. The grounds are lush and tropical and you will find yourself snapping many photos inside and outside. The breakfasts were sumptuous with a local Brazilian twists with excellent coffee and cheese breads I still dream about. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us as we tried to communicate with a local artist to buy a painting, and allowed us to stay late in our room for an evening flight. The serenity room with a balcony was perfect for our stay and we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay.

You guys made me wedding experience so dreamy. We rented about 17 rooms and each guest was treated so so nice and all the staff was so caring. 10/10 recommend.

I had a very nice experience. Just think rooms need to be updated and the smell of the corridors are bad. Also very dark rooms and should invest in good towels. Also missed a gym space. Everything else was perfect.

Although our stay was very enjoyable as far as grounds, location and staff I was little disappointed in the condition of some of the facilities. For example one of the pool bathrooms had a completely broken toilet seat which is dangerous and unacceptable. Also, I was disappointed to find out that the hot tub was cold because the heater was broken and never informed of that condition. Otherwise we enjoyed our room and spending time with family and the courteous staff.
