The receptionist, named "Costa" took my credit card and wrote down its information. This happened during my check-in, on Feb. 18th at around 00:45 AM. I am not happy with that.

After a long trip, we got late to the hotel, and while our car was parked in the front with all our things, unattended, in the dark of downtown of Rio de Janeiro, we waited for more than 20 minutes while only one person was checking in and buying food. Then we had to go around the building via a very strange street to enter the parking, and go to the back where the trash is stored to get the elevator. When we got to the room, it was an accessible one, with a strange toilet cover (not sanitized). The shower didn't have a glass door, but a curtain with mold and yellow stains in the bottom. And everything in the bathroom was yellowish. Only after having to go back to the reception and a 10 minute wait, I got a decent room. And it was not well sanitized. In the ibis at Copacabana, the towels, and toilet paper were wrapped with plastic, differently from this stay of ours at Santos dummont ibis.

I really enjoyed Santos Dummont Ibis. The location in Rio is really good (literally besides the airport and near to the city center). The price is good for the place and the accomodations are nice and comfortable. The breakfast was awesome - even with Covid restrictions - a good point for the hotel since i've been already in different hotels during this time and all of them were very bad.

The hotel is 300m from the french, german and greek consulates. It was easy to find a place to eat nearby, has parking, easy to get in and out with a car and probably also public transportation. The room was great, and the staff were delightful.

Actually the Ibis was closed and we were upgraded to Novotel next door. In the first room the air conditioning didn’t function. We were moved to another room so that was good. We used the room service and that was quite bad: pasteis were almost burned, cheese of poor quality and the pina colada tasted synthetic... Anyway, the (second) room was fine, customer service ok (Indidnt feel like complaining about the food in these difficult times) and the breakfast was also good. All hygiene measures were at the appropriate level.

I paid exactly DOUBLE the regular price because of carnival. It wasn't even on the weekend. it was a Tuesday. And with that price, is not worth what I paid for.

Near the airport , but not clean, near a very unsafe area. Loads of homeless doing all dodgy stuff. If you are an adult fine , don’t bring children there. Guests were partying in their bedroom until early hours, The hotel in dirty from the main entrance, the room was ok but the shower was filthy.

We arrived at the hotel and staff were very kind. At room, was everything nice. BUT, air conditionning degusting missing its cover. We went out and when we arrived the room were plenty of little flies. I'm pregnant, was horrible to stay there knowning this bugs all over the place. I do have some pictures to show you.

The hotel location is fantastic! Right near the airport, and all favorite locations for tourists. In a prior stay, the facilities appeared better maintained, however, it is worth noting that this prior visit was NOT during peak season. Considering the onslaught of visitors that flood Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval. I would imagine a significant strain in the maintenance department is inevitable, hence my under-resourced remark. A couple days after my departure, I was saddened to learn that I forgot my wallet and two passports in my room's safe. Although the fault was absolutely my own, when I contacted hotel management, I am not sure enough importance was placed on the fact that although this was my own mistake, it involved very important documents; especially since I was returning to the United States only days later. After multiple requests to have my room safe re-inspected, I was presented with conflicting information whether the room had already been booked, and regarding the specific changeover protocols for preparing the room to new guests. After consulting with friends and family, whom reside in Brasil, I felt it was necessary to escalate my concerns to the hotel's general manager, whom indicated he was not aware of the situation. Although this was shocking to both of us, he was very courteous, understanding, and apologetic; within 5-10 minutes, I received a call back informing me the documents had been retrieved and were ready for pickup! Overall, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the wait staff, whom were extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I would also like to offer a huge THANK YOU, to the staff who ultimately assisted me in retrieving my documents. It is because of people like them, that I would happily recommend and return to Ibis/Novotel Santos Dumont. Overall, it was a positive experience because although this situation was a mistake of my own, everything was eventually resolved. Having experienced Carnaval and witnessed the hundreds of thousands (if not millions!) of tourists in the area, I would be especially surprised if any other hotel could employ enough temporary staffing and resources to absorb such high demand. Thank you!

The hotel has good acomodations, very clean and comfortable, good services/meals (breakfast super good) and is kind of good located when we talk about daily things. However, it has a super bad smell of cigarretes in the rooms (my neighbor used to smoke every night and the hotel did nothing), the lifts are terrible, super slow and inneficient for the size of the building and the neighbourhood on the night is terrible to walk or do something, you have always to take an Uber.
