I am happy with my stay in Novotel RJ, it was a little expensive but everything is during Carnaval in Rio. Staff was super friendly and accommodating : they let me check in at 13:00 since the room was already available, they gave me an extra key when I lost mine and some bags to help organise my luggage. They also kept my luggage the day of the check out. breakfast hours were very good, from 6 to 11. The room did smell a little bit of humidity but then again, it's RJ..

Firstly when I booked the room over two months ago I humbly requested with a view would have been greatly appreciated. This was not even considered when I arrived. Arrived at the hotel just after check-in and was greeted by the concierge/front desk team and by the team, I mean one person. I was surprised there was only one person working at the desk, especially when check-in times are the peak busy moments. A queue started to form behind me, and this was because the person working was possibly new and obviously overwhelmed. No one came to help them, and other patrons behind me began to get agitated. They were waiting for 15 minutes in total, and finally, a staff member strolled in and called for the next customer. Novotel needs to improve on staffing scheduling. Overall, the room was clean, and towels were changed daily. Concierge staffing needs to improve, however, as this left a sour taste on my experience.
