The staff at the reception were exceptional and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Arian, who assisted us during breakfast, was also incredibly friendly and kind. We highly recommend staying here!

Room furnishings were worn out and badly stained. The corridors were dark and dingy. Found an insect in bed. Not sure that bedding was effectively changed every day. The area around hotel was run down with closed shops and gangs of homeless people, and did not feel safe. On check out I was attempted to be charged for a mini bar snickers bar I had not had. This also happened to another colleague of mine staying at the hotel. When I refused to pay, I was asked to sign a document anyway saying I had had the snickers bar. I refused that as well. However, staff were helpful in lending me a plug adapter. Food was reasonable.

Really tried to enjoy the stay and ignore things outside of it's control like the condition of the surrounding area and.number of homeless people staying nearby and calling out when.walked past. As a group of 3 men we were able to deal with this together and continue walking without being followed. I wouldn't have wanted to do this alone, or as a group of women. However, as the buffet dinner was only passable, lukewarm and overcooked due to the heat lamps it was necessary to go out each night. Breakfast was worse, pastries and local baked goods were stale. When asked the staff were not helpful with dinner recommendations, only directing to the hotel restaurant and a suggestion that there might be something at the airport. The restaurant was open to anyone whether staying at the hotel or not. Again not an issue, EXCEPT they then had access to every floor. The lifts were fitted with card scanners to limit access to floors but they weren't working. Anyone could enter the lift and access any floor. I was woken one night by someone trying to open my room door. In other hotels I'd be disturbed but feel safer due to the chain or door bolt but this had been removed and wasn't provided. The room was also dirty. On entering the room there was a provided STI information leaflet which was surprising for a supposedly up market hotel. Then I noticed the stains on the couch, (thankfully before sitting down) that weren't from spillages. Alerting the front desk they didn't seem to understand the issue and had to ask what my point was and what I'd like done. Requesting it was cleaned this was arranged but only reduced the size of the stain. This set the cleaning standard for the trip. There were more stains on the curtains and mould on the bathroom ceiling. Despite requesting that the sheets be changed they weren't and the bed was just made instead. I could tell thanks to the sand that had made its way into the bed after a beach visit. Then on checking out I was charged for a snickers bar from the mini bar that I hadn't taken. Challenging this I managed to get a refund, however 5 minutes later my colleague faced the same situation. This suggests there is either a scam perpetrated with charging for a chocolate bar, or there is dishonest staff helping themselves in the knowledge that guests will have to pay. The room was also noisy throughout the night. The ac was loud as was the fridge and any noises from the adjoining rooms could be heard. From 5.30am the lift bell could also be heard constantly.
