Very convenient stay

Jose Couples - 04/10/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

The hotel is very well located for a visit to the beautiful city of Marseille. Room was spacious and clean. However, impossible to reach by car. Car was left about 200 metres away in a public parking lot for 2 days and cost a whopping 50 Euros! Breakfast was served in a box and eaten in the room due to the current pandemic restrictions. Overall, I enjoyed the experience very much.

Well located, breakfast could be improved

Clean room, AC is very enjoyable. The room was quite dark even with the window open and the lightning didn't allow to completely light up the room. In the bathroom some additional hangers would have been good. The breakfast was good but the bread and "viennoiseries" were not always fresh. The elevator of the hotel, despite its vintage charm, is horrible to use with its doors closing on you in a harmful way.

Perfect location, very nice rooms

The hotel is in an old building, very original, high ceiling, recently renewed, nice decoration and lighting. Right next the Vieux Port, the location is really ideal for anyone who wants to visit Marseille by foot : Vieux Porc, Mucem, le Panier. The mastress was very comfy, air con saved our summer nights, much space for our luggage and huge bathroom for a city center hotel. Really perfect

Great stay

The location of this hotel was perfect. As I was alone without a car I was able to go everywhere easily from the hotel. The staff was one of the best I've seen at Ibis Hotels. I was not happy with the breakfast as there was no muesli and the dried fruit available did not taste good. The freshly squeezed orange juice was the best thing served. My room was nice and when the shower flooded on my last night I was moved to an even nicer room.

Very well located and spacious (apart from the lift)

Ancient lift was charming, but a bit of a struggle with baggage. Generally helpful staff, one of whom recommended the restaurant beneath the hotel, La Mercerie, where we had a wonderful lunch. The room was really spacious; it would have been nice to have a comfortable chair and a good light for reading (other than the bedside light). Only non-alcoholic welcome drinks a bit disappointing.

great city

Difficult to find with Google/Apple Maps Because of the recent change of name, but easy if you search by the street name. nice clean hotel friendly staff, fantastic location!

Hotel is very difficult to find and not accessible by automobile. Not worth the price.

Wayne D. Couples - 06/01/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

Our GPS sent us through horrible parts of town in an attempt to find this hotel. The confirmation sent by IBIS Hotels contained the wrong address. We spent almost 2 hours trying to find the hotel, and later learned that you cannot get there by car, as the hotel is on a tram line. We had to park 2 blocks away and walk to the hotel; this is not stated anywhere in the hotel information. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. However, the room was very minimalistic and the beds uncomfortable. The room was hot, which necessitated having the window open during the night. However, the street next to our room was very noisy at night. We heard people yelling and screaming until about 3am. Although the hotel has some charm, it has many disadvantages. The website needs to be updated to include instructions on where to park and how to get to the hotel, which is on a street designated for trams only (no vehicles). Overall, it was not worth the $102 euros we paid.

Great location. Clean and fresh rooms.

Fully satisfied

Shocked that the toilet was not cleaned at all

Holger L. Solo - 22/12/2019 Confirmed reviews ALL

When I arrived I was welcomed warmly and the checkin was done fast and to my full satifaction. But I was shocked, when I entered into the bathroom and wanted to use the toilet that was "really" dirty from the previous person. So the toilet was not cleaned at all and nobody checked it by lifting the lid. I've never had such an experience in any other hotel and was not expecting this in an Accor hotel. Another room was offered to me as nobody was available to clean it.

Top location, complicated floorplan, murderous lift...

With the hype La Mercerie underneath and the tramstop before the doorstep, this hotel has a real prime location within Canebiere. Breakfast with IbisStyles typical feature of OJ-machine, egg-cooker(seldom found in IbisStyles), cold & warm beverages(plus croissants leftovers from b'fast) during the whole day sum up the hospitality. The complicated floorplan with numerous firedoors and the fingercrushing ancient elevator were nonetheless annoying.

It was great EXCEPT the shower was broke.

Great. But shower was broke which your staff would know about when room was cleaned. It was the holder of the shower head that was broken. Shower could not be used correctly

Nice staff, bathroom without doors, impossible to open windows

This is the second time I am coming to this hotel because location is great and staff is nice. Main negative point: no door between the bathroom and the bedroom in twin rooms!! I would accept it in a double room but in twin rooms! Sliding doors would be a great idea. Poor staff member, I guess they keep on apologizing about the lack of door. The possibility to open windows would be nice as well.

Rather basic hotel standard

businesstraveler2732 Solo travel - 17/12/2018 TripAdvisor review

I arrived late in the evening hence the receptionist should have known about the last guest for that day. Still it took him five minutes to figure out which room to assign to me. Finally he gave me a room which was … already taken!!! Still the key card was able to open the room. Luckily the other guest wasn't in his room (despite the late evening). Guess what shock he/she had become when a stranger opens the room door late in the evening? The receptionist apologized but again needed 5min to figure out a new room. Simply UNPROFESSIONAL! Breakfast buffet in the morning was OK.
