All staff we encountered were really friendly, the lobby and downstairs area are welcoming and a good space to wait. The room was clean. The lockers for luggage storage are really useful and breakfast was delicious. I’d stay here again

Although basic with rooms on the smaller size the hotel was well managed with super friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The setting was perfect for a quick and easy walk to most places in Marseilles.

DO NOT stay here. They cancelled our booking one day before arrival without a reason why. They’ve refused to answer the phone and did not respond to an email sent by my provider. I will NOT stay at an Ibis hotel again due to the lack of respect for its customers and lack of service. If they had contacted me fine, if they needed payment, contact me? Don’t cancel?

Husband and I had stayed here last year for just one night. Location was fairly convenient and we just needed a place to crash. Brought our son along this year and stayed for 3 nights. Huge mistake. The 3 person room is the same size as the 2 person room, except you get charged more. If you pull out the bed for the third person, you have to stack up the small table and chairs somewhere as if trying to put them in a moving van. No closet, just about 4 clothes racks on the far wall that one has to climb over both beds to get to, and a small shelf. We are EXTREMELY light packers for Americans, having only 30L backpacks apiece for a 17 day trip, but the housekeeping chewed us out for having stuff on the bed. First off, I didn’t even know we got housekeeping in the middle of the stay as we were not told this on check in and this is not always the case at the budget places where you don’t even get points. I don’t know where they expected us to put our stuff or how they would have had room to move around the beds to change the linens anyway. And if you are accustomed to washing clothes in the sink and hanging them up, there’s literally no room to do this (especially for 3 people), which is why we had as much stuff as we had packed for this trip to begin with. When they did come in they only changed the bathmat and dumped the bathroom trash. I would have liked to have had my dirty towels changed. The only reason I had them hanging up is that I didn’t know they would come in to change them. One was quite dirty but she was more worried about wanting to change the sheets and like it was a huge bother to change out the towels. We also ran out of toilet paper as the dispenser for the sheets of toilet paper had not been properly replenished before we checked in. I have never had a housekeeper so rude anywhere in the world. The day we checked out topped them all. The night before, we had asked the front desk if it was possible to have a 1pm checkout instead of 12 noon. They said we had to wait until morning to see if it was possible. Our son went down that morning to ask the girl at the front desk for the 1pm checkout because of our train schedule (it was a Tuesday, so not as many checking in as would be on a weekend) and she said she could make that happen for us. THERE WAS NO MENTION MADE ANYWHERE IN THAT ENCOUNTER THAT THERE WAS A CHARGE FOR THIS. We’re back in the room a bit before noon trying to rest and right at noon we get a very assertive knock on the door from the housekeeper again to chew us out and argue with us that we didn’t have a 1pm checkout and had to be out right then. Our son told her that he had cleared this with the front desk that morning to have the 1pm checkout. We try to get a bit of rest when a few minutes later we get another assertive knock on the door, this time from the same front desk girl that had told our son she would let us have the 1pm checkout. She starts chewing us out and said that we hadn’t paid our 20€ to stay the extra hour. I told our son to go talk to the one who had said we could stay and he said it was her. SHE SHOULD HAVE COMMUNICATED THIS WHEN HE WENT DOWN THAT MORNING TO ASK INSTEAD OF COMING UP LATER AND CHEWING US OUT FOR NOT PAYING SOMETHING WE WEREN’T EVEN TOLD WE WERE SUPPOSED TO! THIS WAS NOT COMMUNICATED AT ALL! We would have just gone to the train station early and avoided the whole fiasco! She acted like she was doing us a favor out of the goodness of her heart. That was pretty dirty. We were forced to pay the 20€ because we didn’t have time to argue with her for fear of missing our train at that point but it was absolutely ridiculous. WE GOT ABSOLUTELY NO REST IN THAT HOUR FROM THE CONSTANT BOMBARDMENT OF BEING CHEWED OUT BY THE HOUSEKEEPER AND THE FRONT DESK GIRL! Then she had the gall to get upset that I didn’t smile on the way out the door after how she had just hoodooed us. Needless to say, we will be looking elsewhere for a place to stay next time we are in Marseille.
