Due to the current Europe-wide heatwave, our room air-cooling system is unfortunately reaching its technical limits and, in such exceptional circumstances, is unable to cool the rooms to the extent we would like. I booked on the telephone for a business event and I understood I would get the special rate for the event. When I arrived to the hote after lat at night (after 2200), it turned out I had to pay twice as much and I was referred to the manager the following morning. In the morning, I left to the event before the manager arrived, but I was told that I would not get the event rate because I booked too late. OK. When I returned to the hotel late at night, my room had not been cleaned. When I asked in reception, I was told that I should have let reception know before 2230 that I wanted room cleaning. I explained that nobody told me while checking in (again, past 2200). I was told that it was my problem anyway because there was clear signs in the room. However, they would leave a note so that a discount would be applied to my bill the following morning. I would have expected the employee at the front desk at least to have taken responsibility and initiative and had done the required cleaning. I went back to the room, and it took me 45 minutes before I found a small sticker in the bathroom mirror with very small print in English (which I could not read without spectacles) which read I should inform reception if I wanted cleaning before 10:30 pm the previous day. Of course, the following morning, when I checked out, no one knew anything about any problema and even less about the discount. I left the hotel paying far more than I initially expected, and I did not even get cleaning service.
