The staff was nice, the room was quiet, however I would expect more. The room was cold, no restaurant available, no room upgrade nor welcome amenities as platinum accor member. The “gym” would be better with a simple treadmill. The breakfast was amazing the first two days, after that the scramble eggs became all liquid and rare bacon. Unfortunately not a cost benefit hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff, a fantastic breakfast and an excellent location in the old town. The bathroom had a strange smell and the room was on the small side, however, we did opt for the cheapest room.

The hotel is 4 stars and the price of the stay gave higher expectations than were met. On check-in the employee at reception said out loud my room number - I am a woman travelling alone and the number should be shown instead of said aloud. This is unacceptable and training is lacking there. Next, the room was superior, but the facilities were more like a low/basic hotel. There was no indication of a fridge with water - I discovered the next day only. The space was limited and the smoke alarm was covered in tissue paper - presumably because the water boiler or shower steam set it off, but this is a safety issue. I found the breakfast very good but overall, I would not stay here again.

Kurtis B. W. Couples - Confirmed reviews ALL

A nicely renovated hotel in an excellent location, although not quite as polished as I’d expect from the Handwritten Collection. The location is fantastic. You’re right where you’d want to be in Lille, within easy walking distance of pretty much everything. The renovation has been done to a good standard, the bedroom was comfortable and everything worked as it should. The only noticeably dated element was the air conditioning, which worked perfectly well but could probably benefit from a thorough clean. The bar was another highlight. A lovely, quiet, relaxing space to enjoy a cocktail or sit with a board game. The drinks were good and the staff were friendly throughout our stay. There were, however, a few details that let the experience down. My Accor Platinum status wasn’t acknowledged at any point. We received the standard welcome drink, but otherwise there was no mention of status, noticeable upgrade or additional recognition. Not a major issue, but I’d expect a little more attention to loyalty at this level. We’d also arranged decorations for a special occasion. These were provided, which was appreciated, but the packaging had simply been left on the table alongside them. It rather spoiled the presentation and felt a bit like we were being left to tidy up after the setup ourselves. A small thing, but it’s these details that make a difference. The two lifts are absolutely tiny. Even one person with a reasonable amount of luggage would struggle for space. At busier times, we noticed other guests opting for the stairs rather than waiting, and ended up doing the same ourselves. We skipped breakfast. At €26 per person, the spread didn’t look particularly good value, so we weren’t tempted. The gym also feels like an afterthought. The equipment itself is decent, but the space doesn’t seem to have been designed by anyone who actually exercises. If you’re after a little light cardio in a fairly lifeless room, it’ll do the job, but not much beyond that. One slightly unusual choice was the rally car theme running through the hotel. I couldn’t work out its connection to Lille, and there didn’t seem to be any explanation for it. Perhaps there’s a story behind it, but it felt a little random. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I’d happily return for the right price. It’s a comfortable, nicely renovated hotel with friendly staff, a lovely bar and an excellent location. That said, I’d liken it more to a particularly nice ibis Styles than a proper Handwritten Collection property. It’s a good hotel in its own right, but it’s missing some of the personality, attention to detail and finishing touches that I’d expect from the brand.

Good points 1.Fantastic bed 2.Quiet 3. Good shower and products 4. Comfortable and welcoming foyer 5. Friendly check in 6.Convenient location , amongst old town bars and restaurants. Points to note 1. Personal taste , paint colours in room a bit dark for our taste . 2. Lighting in room didn't light the area of the mirror. 3.We would expect a water bottle per person to be offered each day, without having to ask or go downstairs to re fill from the fountain. 4. When room was serviced ( once in 5 nights ..per our choice) the towels were not replaced. 5. Only one black tea offered on arrival in the room and one powdered milk between two people. Shouldn't have to go chasing extra tea bags and milk. 6. The cups are small in the room suitable for coffee, but you can get a mug from downstairs. 7. We could not access Netflix or you tube from our room, due to a Wi-Fi recurring error.

Dear Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review following your stay with us.
