This hotel is located close enough to walk into Lille centre but you have to dodge the drunks on the way. It has a basic reception area where coffee, and vending machines are available serving snacks and pizzas. There are a couple of games to keep the little and big kids occupied and a seating area. Staffing is minimal but friendly enough. The room was compact and we had to make our own 3rd bed up. All linen and towels were privided in a bag. The beds were very firm.

We paid for cheap accommodation but with the safety of a known brand and largely got what was expected. We received a warm greeting from all the staff, the two connecting rooms had decent bathrooms, were clean and came with bed linen and towels. There was decent free wifi, which I wasn't sure there would be given the budget label and the beds were comfortable as well. We've had a hot summer but when we stayed in August it was only mid 20s during the day in Lille, however our ground floor rooms were really warm all the time. They both had a portable fan (one fan was decent, one was not much use), but neither were adequate for reaching the bunk bed, which was enclosed by wood with very few holes meaning the two people on the bunk hardly slept on the first night due to the heat. Luckily there were only 4 of us so for the second night nobody used the bunk and we all slept better on the double beds, although still really warm. Our rooms were on the ground floor with windows onto the road, which were locked shut. I'm not sure we would have wanted them open as the hotel doesn't appear to be in the nicest part of Lille with a few people hanging around or appearing drunk at around 1030 pm when we were arriving both evenings into the hotel. All in all, a fair price in many ways and should be ideal for a base that you don't spend much time in, but I do think some air conditioning is necessary when the rooms can get so hot during the summer as regardless of the price we still all need to be able to sleep. PS Lille is beautiful.

There is a very obvious problem with prostitution and intoxication of drugs and alcohol directly outside the property ,on the wall and steps , it was very uncomfortable and if I had another option I would have left but it was late and I have travelled a long way with my family . I understand there is only so much the hotel can do but there must be some resolution …

Staff were kind and helpful. They were always able to answer questions and queries. The rooms were clean. There were a lot of people hanging around outside the hotel in the evenings. It made me feel uncomfortable returning. The main door to the entrance of the hotel was locked and someone was always present at reception.

Hotel staff very friendly and spoke English very well, unfortunately the rooms are very tired, bedding although smelt clean had a dirty look to them, the door to our room was getting stuck on the floor and was hard to open. Shower was good. Unfortunately outside at night there appeared to be ladies of the night that was extremely off putting to go out with my wife. Good location for food. Car park although the online booking said it was full there were about 15 spaces free and I couldn’t actually book online for the parking.

There was obviously something going on in Lille this week, because I could not get a room in my usual hotel at a reasonable price. So it was a matter of paying what I think of as my usual price to stay somewhere that would have been acceptable at its usual budget rate, ie half of what I paid. I suppose that is a consequence of "dynamic pricing". The only other comment is that including "Gares" in the name recalls the practice of some airlines of including the name of a major city in the name of an airstrip 100 miles away!
