We are traveling a lot to Bucharest, and each time try a few hotels around there. We must tell that Mercure City Center is the best hotel to be in. The only problem is that they give only one shampoo and one shower gel.

We enjoyed a family dinner with 9 persons in the restautant of the hotel at new years eve. Things were set up very nice; the food was excellent and the atmosphere was kind, relaxed and very correct.. even the attention and special treatment the baby in our group got was very pleasing to see. It turned out to be a very good idea to celebrate the new year in the Mercure. Thanx to the people who had to work this special day/evening/night to make it work for us ! The hotel itself is 5 years old; maintained very well (everything works) and the cleaning is flawless; no strange suprises here ... this is how it should be everywhere ! The windows can be openend to let in fresh air (this can be a problem at some hotels). Location; nicely close/in the city center; busses in all directions (also the express bus to the airport is a 4/5 min walk).

Starting by the arrival, the car park procedure is not advised at the entrance of the ramp so didn't know if I was going to let in by the receptionist or if the gate would just automatically open. Once in lobby the check in was straightforward although the Fast Check In/Fast Check Out felt like a missed opportunity. I was expecting to be greet and the Welcome envelope to be given to me and on my way I go. This didn't happen. I don't recall seeing the Check Out box either but I may have missed it. The room was what was booked and more than enough for the both of us. The balcony was a nice touch. It meant my friend didn't have to go downstairs to smoke. Most of the things in the room were lovely, in working condition but the biggest let down was the bathroom. I tend to have the same problem in my hotels, designers make everything look pretty but do forget about practicality. The step so the water doesn't overflow the whole bathroom is ugly. It doesn't match the existent tiles. The door is too large in a way that you have to move around it to get to the toilet which is behind it. The emergency cord was tied up (I hope it gets tied down if there is a guest with accessible needs staying in the room). Not sure if all the rooms have the cord or not but the bedroom felt small for a wheelchair user as was the bathroom (apart from the door). The shower was powerful but the water splashed all over the bathroom. The worst bit was the mold in the silicon in the shower. That needs to be removed and redone. And some of the grouting has fell off so it needs to be redone as well. Breakfast was lovely with a great variety of choices but the payment bit was not straightforward. At the end it was sorted and the only last odd bit was getting out of the parking which didn't open when the car was brought forward and had to press a comm to the reception which then took longer than it should to act. My review is meant to be constructive, hence the 10/10. Gotta keep those TrustYou scores up! :)

Hotel is clean and tidy staff were great, i found the heating to hot and came on over night and not water in the room.
