ibis Styles Basel City Hotel 3 stars

We arrived in the evening at 20 h (sun 1 jan 2021). The man at the reception was correct and efficient, but not really friendly. He told us that breakfast was between 6.30 h and 9.30 h (which is very early) We had a good night in a very nice room. Next morning we were at breakfast at 8.55 h and the lady told us (correct, but again not very friendly or flexible) that breakfast was untill 9 h. We told her that at the reception desk we were told 9.30 h, but she did not want to hear that. A few minutes later, another couple arrived with the same problem / argument. We had 5 minutes to take some food. Than the lady started to take away everything from the buffet and stopped the coffee machine. When we left the hotel, the (this time very friendly) lady at the reception apoligized for the misunderstanding and offered us a coffee . I had the impression that not everybody working in the hotel felt very happy. I never had an hotel were breakfast was closed and taken away at 9 h. A pity because the hotel certainly is nice.

Excellent as usual only let down was I had booked and paid in full for a twin room, but was given a double as they had no twins available so disappointed

I had a good stay and the hotel room was clean. The specific Covid-19 measures were good. It would have been a good idea to have hand sanitizers by the lifts as they are used constantly.

The lady at reception was extremely helpful, the room was clean and nice. For one night the stay was very good. The breakfast was not that well organized, there was no order in which the people were invited to enter the eating area. In addition, I see no point asking everyone to stay for 15-20min in the small waiting area, packed together, just to keep the social distance in the eating area. Either provide larger waiting area, or allow everyone in the eating area. Another option is not to provide free breakfast.

Perfect one night stay halfway through a long car journey. Hotel was clean, modern, comfortable. Room had electric blinds and was completely soundproof. European buffet for breakfast offered plenty of choices.

We booked this hotel due the good location for us. Unfortunately room is very small and has no hanging or storage options in the room. This was a pity. A deposit box is only available at the reception. Bed was comfy, staff friendly. Parking ok. High room rate for a motel style hotel...there were other hotels with even 4* for lower price. Would choose these next time..

We stayed there one night before leaving on a river cruise. Hotel location isn't the best but otherwise we were satisfied. Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was fine, maybe something green could be added (cucumber, tomato etc.). Complimentary Basel Card is great allowing you to use public transportation for free.

Check in was ok but not so friendly Room too humid, no hooks for jackets. Breakfast was very good, employees are friendly. Room doors pumps are closing the doors with a hard slam. Makes too much noise. My remarks are only for improvement, they should not be published.

I stayed in ibis styles Basel for 20 days. I would like to suggest improvement in these areas. Breakfast- to offer variety without incurring cost. Everyday it’s the same. Scramble eggs! There are more than 100 ways to prepare eggs than scramble eggs everyday and it’s too salty. Alternate cold cuts and replace beans with salad. I stayed long enough to observe very few takes beans. Butter for the bread is tasteless.

Nice modern hotel near city center. Lovely service and supportive staff. The room was clean and available free wifi functions good. Breakfast as always at Ibis Hotels, very good quality with alot of choice.

So I quite enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is about a 10 minute walk from Basel SBB. It would be quicker to get the tram but due to engineering works they were not running to the usual schedule so feet had to do for the most part. However the free transport card was very welcome for getting around other parts of Basel. The hotel room was decent. The bed was lovely and cosy. The bathroom was ok. And the shower was nice. The soap was a little sparse though, The bar though was not great as I had to wait for about 3 - 5 minutes for a member of staff to serve me. Also check-in was poor. I have a priority card yet as is usual for Ibis hotels, it is never manned correctly so there is not really any point in it.

I have visited a lots of IBIS hotels around the world. Definitely this one was the best with standard that exceeded other 4-star hotels. Extremely good, brand new paintings and decoration inside. The staff was polite and efficient. Unfortunately our flight was early so we left before breakfast and could not try it. Really shocked by the high standard and outlook of the hotel. The location was convenient - 15 min walk or 2 tram stops from the main railway station. I would definitely chose it again for my future visits in the city.

This is a good hotel. The front desk staff were very helpful. The breakfast was good but some of the breakfast staff were unfriendly. The room was air conditioned which was great in the heat wave. The room is very small without ironing facilities or a safe which makes it not ideal for business travellers. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms but these are always available in the lobby. The fire alarm went off 3 times in error once in the early hours of the morning. This was uncomfortable. The bed and pillows were amazing and everything very clean. Overall, this hotel is good value for money.

I would like to say it was one of the best experiences, being positioned close to city center it offered us the opportunity to visit the center using the city-card and by it, going with all types of public transport at no cost. Services were very good, including the room and breakfast. I will definitely come back to this hotel and amazing city! Thank you!
