Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager. After welcoming us back for our second time, he told us they could not honor our reservation as they rented out the entire hotel for a gymnastics group of teams! How can you take a reservation from people during COVID for people traveling from overseas and then literally tell them they can’t stay!? After 5 nights we were moved to the Ibis Styles down the street with assurances it was angers nice and new hotel. The staff was very pleasant but the hotel room was a shoebox in size! Never would we choose to stay in such an accommodation. But as we needed to visit our daughter in Aesch each day, other hotel options were all too far away. Then, we saw there were many gymnastic people staying at the Ibis as well!! So why were we inconvenienced instead of moving a few other gymnasts?!? At the time we took it in stride after a long trip. But in retrospect it was unacceptable.

The room, staff and location were all great, however, we were surprised that the only evening dining choice during these Covid times was a buffet. Breakfast, whilst very nice, was extremely busy and, again, was self service. This left us feeling rather uncomfortable and wishing there had been a more Covid friendly option.

Not the first time, we like the hotel all good... but staff/restaurant overwhelmed during Easter

We’ve been to you hotel, we like the location, the rooms, the ability to accommodate 2 kids in parents room for free and breakfast. However, during Easter staff was visibly overwhelmed during dinners. On first night we got a la carte, which was good, but waiter did not know what gluten-free means (said it’s without milk...). Then, on second day we were not informed at reservation that the formula changes to buffet - which got our kids by surprise, as they wanted a burger... So overall nothing big - but it was visible that Easter popularity has surprised the hotel.

Service, room and location were good, but unfortunately the extremely poor dining experience made the stay unforgettable in all the wrong ways. I have had much better food at the IKEA food court. We could not believe it. We complained to the front desk upon checkout, and they presented their apologies. I appreciate that they accepted it and did not try to make up excuses. I guess they were not caught by surprise. It was, frankly, inexcusable.

We did this by taking restaurant reservations for a limited time slots and providing a dinner-buffet instead of a la carte. That this resulted in such a disappointment for you is extremely unpleasant for us and does not meet our standards and aspiration. Indeed we had to realize that our hotel restaurant and our kitchen is not equipped and designed for such huge capacity to serve so many guests in such a short time. Especially not under consideration of minimum distance in corona times. I would like to apologize again on behalf of the entire hotel team for the inconvenience. We appreciate your sharing your concerns and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. The Novotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating during our 4 days of stay with them. They were particularly friendly with our kids and all the other kids that stayed at the hotel during the Easter weekend. All our questions were answered fast and correctly. They helped us out quickly when their parking had a software issue and would not let us in with the car. And overall they made everything possible for us to enjoy our stay there during Covid times.

Room smelled of cigarettes. 24 hours later I still haven’t received my invoice by email. Stay is not showing as a recent stay in Accor app.

Clean and comfortable (noise and bedding) room, very close to motorway, good breakfast (though we would have appreciated more on the sweet side). Secured parking is very convenient though a bit too expensive (26 CHF)

We’ve stayed in this hotel before and it didn’t disappoint! One quibble, we found the temperature in our room 228 was high and the adjustment to a lower temp did not seem to be effectice. The windows could not be opened either. So we slept in a room that was too hot for our taste. That said: service was friendly, breakfast great and the complimentary Basel Card is also very nice. We’ll return.

We ended up in the room for handicapped people. Nonetheless, the room was still very spacious as was the washroom with the walk in shower. The double bed is a large double bed as well. Very basic room with basic comforts. Cleaning staff did an excellent job and was prompt. Very friendly reception staff and willing to assist and help with a smile. Breakfast buffet spread of hot and cold foods offered a wide variety of choices every morning. We ate dinner at the hotel on Xmas Eve: very tasty and lovely meal for the occasion. Hotel is a 15-17 min. Walk to the train station. Hotel offered city transportation pass for trams and busses to and from the city centre. This is a "plus" for tourists who wanted to visit the Xmas markets and do some shopping. Definitely recommend this hotel.

In this hotel you always feel welcome and privileged. The rooms are spacious and invitingly furnished. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired and the bar also offers a large selection of different drinks.

Very pleasant room and totally quiet ... always again. I enjoyed the stay and the stuff ist very helfful. the included breakfast is rich and very tasty. The location is not in the center of Basel, but the included ticket for two days for the public transport is a great plus.

Very good hotel close to the city centers. Good breakfast and good food in the restaurant. We were on an opera tour in Italy and Switzerland and Novotel Basel was a good choise to stay in the Switzerland part of our tour.

Our stay was very pleasant in our executive rooms with all the amenities: bathrobe and slippers, Nespresso machine, lovely bathroom amenities, a shower and a bathtub and a very good breakfast buffet. The only drawback was the fact that the safe was not operational and despite asking twice to have it looked at, it did not happen.
