ibis budget Rio de Janeiro Nova America 2 stars

We stayed there due to Taylor Swift's concert; it was our first time in Rio and wanted to get to know as many places as we could in a week. First of all, the staff was very friendly at all times; João helped us at the check in (we didn't speak portugese and he did speak english) and he was extremely efficient, friendly, and kind. He cleared up doubts and provided us with two keys to the room as requested. Even though the rooms at the budget hotel (the blue ibis) are very small, they were enought to have a good, peaceful, and quiet night of sleep; take either a relaxing hot shower or a refreshing cold one, and charge our electronic devices to be ready to go to a new and exciting destination. The hotel made us feel very well located as it is right next to the giant Nova America mall, it was also just a couple of minutes in uber away to pretty much ANYTHING there is to see in Rio (Stadiums, museums, Christ the Redeemer, the Acqua Rio aquarium, etc.). Our rate included free belreakfast and it was enjoyable, they served it from 6am and the buffet closed at 11:15am which felt perfect for either getting it before hitting a new attraction early in the morning, or getting to eat even if you slept in after a late night out. Overall, this hotel feels like the perfect calm place to go after experiencing the heat of a noisy and crowed place.

Atende as expectativas

Stayed last night at this hotel , as missed connecting flight to Heathrow. Arrived at 2am , after nearly 12 hours at airport, ( thank you Latham !!!) so very tired , but young staff couldn’t have been more helpful :) The room was very basic , but clean and shower better than looked , power and hot water win win . The young staff in the morning were just as helpful, bending over backwards to help ,felt so sorry couldn’t tip them , as hadn’t expected to need anymore cash as supposed to be en route to Heathrow ! But they knew this and we just had to thank them . As was the lovely gentleman on the door .

Lobby is dirty, breakfast/seating area are disgusting. There’s litter on the floor no matter the time of the day, lots of crumbs and whatnot. Same for the halls and lifts. The room was clean except the shower room which is filled with mould. The windowsill was also filthy. There was no minibar so nowhere to keep food and drinks cooled at all… no available water in the room and no phone to request any. You have to go purchase a small bottle from them at the breakfast bar for 8 real. The location is decent for business travel or larger events cause it gives access to important business/leisure hubs of the city quickly. Overall I’d rate my experience a 3/10 which could be up to a 6 if I had paid accordingly. For the amount I was charged a night I could’ve very well stayed in a beach front b&b.

Fragrance, cleaness and tidiness( of even the things I left on the room, though nothing invasive, great use of common sense). The room itself was really cozy and the customer service went high and beyond.
