I have not been to the Q Starion before but booked it because my wife had been and had great memories of her stay. we celebrated her 80th birthday with family and friends who stayed overnight. The dinner party was at the Boilerhouse and all enjoyed the shuttle transport to the venue. The manager, Hugo made sure that we ate and were served well. Those that stayed overnight enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast. The Q Station is managed very well.

Our family, grandparents, parents, and 3 young children stayed in one of the officer's cottages for 2 nights. We celebrated our son's birthday with our Sydney-based relatives by having a picnic lunch on the grass beside the cottage while overlooking the amazing views. The kids played on the beach, we had coffee at the wharf cafe, and later listened to an excellent lady guitarist at the Happy Hour with local friends. The younger generation made the visit by ferry to the Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens and Vivid light show in Argyle Cut. All around perfect.

Fabulous Location. Historic buildings, big harbor views, nature & space. Rooms basic, thin walls and stuffy. Food so so. Staff great. National park next door. Ferry & shuttle services worked well. Quiet & peaceful midweek. The precinct was great to explore. A little run down but that added to the atmosphere. It would be wrong to 'tart up' the buildings.
