I've had lots of great stays at the Ibis Budget Sydney East, but my night in room 303 this week must rank as my most uncomfortable night ever. To say I had difficulty sleeping due to the road noise is an understatement. I got up several times through the night double- (and then triple-) checking that somehow the window wasn't actually open. Having politely pointed this out to the reception staffer the next morning, he kindly comp'd me breakfast, which is the only positive of the visit, and why I've rated it so highly as a 5. Upon my return home to Newcastle later that morning I spent an hour in bed making up for what I had been deprived of the night before. Having had a look at it by the light of day I believe the root cause - and PLEASE fix this - is that any previous rubber seal around the window opening has long perished/vanished, effectively rendering the double-glazed window decorative at best. But I won't be accepting a William-street facing room on level 3 any time soon.

The Reception, Breakfast Restaurant & Housekeeping Teams could not have been more helpful and friendly. 10 out of 10 for that. Breakfast is excellent value for the price! Meanwhile PLEASE put highlighted in the body of your confirmation email that the entry for people with a suitcase is 4 Premier Lane!!! Also...my room slept 3 people with only towels for 2, and has an open shower but only 1 bathmat to mop up the water for everyones shower so 2nd and 3rd person stand on wet muck A shelf in the bathroom & a shelf in the room would not be a luxury!
