The hotel is looking rather tired but the staff were all so friendly and helpful they keep the place going they are a credit overall an enjoyable stay and the room allocated was an updgrade I think and it was lovely so thank you

Hotel is well located and public area was spotless. Interaction with staff was all positive. As they seemed to be friendly and respectful. Receptionist in morning was very helpful, and assisted in printing a very important document for me. However there was more negatives than positives. On arrival we asked for food, and was told no chef, so kit food available to us. Room this stay was very dated and was in need of a freshen up. Minor repairs had been done to a poor standard. Water pressure was poor for the shower, although it was hot enough. No hot buffet breakfast in the morning. Although there was plenty of cereal, toast, etc. Hot food order was taken by one of the team, and brought out to the table. But unfortunately this was not freshly cooked. It had been sitting under the hot plate, Black pudding was rock hard, sausages over done on one side probably due to hot plate. Beans look warm, and bacon again dry from hot plate. I will be staying again in a few weeks time, so this trip did not discourage me from using the hotel.

All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The receptionist remembered me me from last year so that was nice. Room was fresh and clean. The bar lady, Irene was very helpful and patient.

On arrival, staff members had conflicting understanding of the availability of meals. The 'limited menu' as suggested turned out to be a reduced choice between two varieties of pizza. Room 320 as allocated initially seemed acceptable but, on using the shower, it was found that the bath drain was blocked to the extent that it took over an hour to empty. Also, the shower control was not attached to the wall making its use difficult. The wash basin tap also was very loose. On presenting the staff with these problem, reallocation to room 435 was offered - an unwelcome inconvenience. This room was in a significantly better state of maintenance. There were repeated problems with the keycards, which had to be replaced at least four times. Eventually it was suggested that proximity to a mobile phone was degrading the programmed code, although taking extra care with the location of the card did not improve its reliability. Breakfast was to a good standard, as enjoyed on previous visits. The staff tried their best in difficult circumstances, but this experience was so challenging that the second night, as reserved, was abandoned. Despite previous good experience of this hotel, this was very disappointing and we will not be returning.

The team work hard to ensure all our guests have an enjoyable stay I am sorry to see that you would not return.
