All is good at the Mercure. However, the reason for only 8 is that while you have a great comfortable and inviting bar and dining area. The quality of the food I have had is not the same standard as for example. The Eccleston Arms - St Helens, The Crown Inn - Widnes - Pesto Widnes.... etc... I have had burgers in many restaurants and pubs around the world even Tony Roma's in Las Vegas. The Mercure burger is not good. The last one I had with the new chief last Monday was burnt, and I had the ask for coleslaw. I would normally have the ribeye on Tuesday but I went to KFC instead as I was concerned it would be burnt. I also note people bringing in MacDonald's and Just eat people arriving. This should not happen with such a seemingly perfect dining facility. Please could you look into the food quality offering. May I suggest to send the chef to the Crown Inn in Widnes and ask him/her to try the burger and then eat the Mercure burnt burger. And compare. Conversely, the breakfast is very good and one of the best offerings I have had in hotels ( just ask the chef to be careful not to burn the tomatoes). I hope this is useful. As per title. Beds need updating. Take a leaf out of Premier Inn’s book - their beds are outstanding. The rooms are nice enough, decor is to a good standard. Shower was in need of maintenance.
