Difficult to navigate the final part to the car park. A simple local route map should be sent to customers as Satnav takes to you behind the hotel in a one way system. Check in great. Room lovely, but you can't open a window at all. Air con effective but who wants to use air con in late November? You had to use it to push "fresh air" into the room. Souless restaurant, eat out instead. Bar very quiet and football on every screen! Great if you like football, but I can't stand it! Even at breakfast football was on. Why not the news? Charming receptionist really helpful. Easy parking at the front of the hotel. Well lit.

My experience is only based on one evening so perhaps please also take that into consideration. I was supposed to arrive earlier however was unable to do so due to our marvellous rail network system that we have in this country. I booked the hotel due to its close proximity to the theatre. It is unfortunate that I did not have the opportunity to use both the gym and pool facilities during my stay. The booking was made relatively close to the reservation. It was nice that there were a number of payment options that both appealed to the wallet or flexibility of scheduling. The ladies on reception were very polite and helpful Indeed. They spoke and communicated well. This was not however a business trip and did not have many requests and only stayed the one night however they were nice for the duration I was there. Unfortunately I’m unable to comment on the dining facilities. Perhaps next time. The Room. The room was clean which is always a good sign and the bed comfortable. Again, always a good sign. However although I do understand that LED lights are energy efficient, in all honesty, you couldn’t see a bloody thing in the room. Even in the morning it felt like night time once I’d opened the curtains. More attention needed as the light bulbs on the side of the bed closest the window either needed changing. The final point really is only to address the environment regarding shampoo, soap etc. Rather than throw away plastics etc, it might be beneficial to have soap, shampoo or lotion dispensers by the sink and in the bath/shower. Good check-in, room very clean bathroom needed attention ie new tiles but rotted wood bath panel. Breakfast was average but again good service.

Disappointing

Booked a suite which was utilitarian more than comfortable. Windows don’t open. Air conditioning didn’t work properly so turned off but still hummed all night in the cold.No coffee available at breakfast so went to McDonalds. Restaurant food mediocre for the price. Menu limited. Staff all willing and friendly but a little lost.Cancelled second night as per rules but reception at check out unable to process refund for 2nd night and breakfasts nor able to provide a final invoice. E mail ignored and still waiting for refund. Wouldn’t dream of staying there again.

sure where to start, after arriving at the Hotel last night after a 14hr day to say I'm disappointed is a massive understatement, First 2 people in front of me offered a loyalty card as they have been staying at the hotel the last 2 weeks and could possibly be using until 2 weeks before Christmas, not once have I been offered this in the 12 month or so I have been staying, it was offered last night either, on checking in I was then allocated room 232 on opening the room door I was greeted to the most horrific smell, rubbish and bedding thrown all over the room which is clearly unacceptable. I returned to reception where Sharon apologised and changed my room, she later went on to offer a free drink or a breakfast of which I declined on both. When I set the account up with yourselves I stated I would be in St Helens around 6 month and here I am 12 month down the line not been offered anything nor have I asked for anything in return, we have 2 other sites and its not uncommon for us to temporarily move staff around as you will see this week we have 2 rooms booked for a week in St Helens, we usually put them in the Travelodge, however I authorised their stay in the St Helens hotel this week as the cost difference wasn't huge and thought it better than the Travelodge and may encourage staff to want to work in St Helens again as getting them to work away from home at times is a challenge but thought a better hotel may we encourage them to want to work away again, I can only hope them didn't experience anything like I did last night. Whilst I have been staying at the hotel I have obviously seen the changes being made, and the effort some of the staff are putting in, I know few people that work in the hotel by name but some of the service hasn't been great, when we set the account up you specified you couldn't guarantee me a room which I accepted but just over a month ago there was an instance where I stayed in St Helens for a full week but couldn't get a room the Wednesday night, when I checked in on the Monday I specifically asked to be notified if there was a room available for the Wednesday to let me know, on the Tuesday I asked again and as the Premier Inn was full I asked the receptionist if she knew of anywhere else she advised she would have a look and phone up to my room, I never received a phone call, even a courtesy call to say sorry I cant find anywhere would have been nice, during my stay in St Helens I have had the odd issue and decided to stay elsewhere to have a sulk but always returned, we have spent a lot of money at the St Helens hotel over the last 12 month so to experience what I did last night is really unacceptable. Then due to last nights issues I never got round to booking a table in the hotel for a Christmas party, maybe next week when I have calmed down a little I may look into it but as you can probably gauge from my rant I'm REALLY NOT HAPPY. Please pass on my thanks to Sharon for last night but the other 2 on reception may as well not been there (possible shift change)

The carpet in the room had not been vac adequately, the bath was dirty, the room lighting sub standard - main bedroom area. Bedside lights did not work properly. The bathroom could do with some TLC to repair water damage. Towels smelt stagnant. The bed was clean and comfortable. All staff spoken to helpfull and pleasant. Breakfast of a good standard.

Even though I had turned the air conditioning off, the quietness in the room was spoilt by a constant noise coming from the air conditioning unit. That caused me to have a poor night's sleep, which is obviously very disappointing when the whole point of hotels is to be able to have a great night's sleep in a place far away from home!

Had a great time everything went smoothly. Free parking a plus, check in quick and although not checking in until later no problem in booking meal in restaurant. Food great, bedroom really good a big comfy bed and all the necessities, hairdryer etc.

There were some guests being extremely noisy and shouting and banging doors at 3am which carried on for half an hour. No fault of the hotel though. Reception staff were very concerned and asked us if we were OK after our second nights stay.
