i have stayed at this hotel before without any issues but on this occasion i was very disappointed.I was given a room on the 3rd floor (327) right opposite to the switchgear or transformer room ,this gave a rumbling noise all throughout my 2 day stay and was more noticable at night when trying to sleep, i also overheard another hotel guest at breakfast complaining about the same issue. I did bring this to the attention of the manager as he was on reception at check out, also i had to wait nearly 45 minutes for breakfast leaving me only 5 minutes to consume it, will more than likely stay here again but not on the 3rd floor.

Checked in online, but still had to fill out paperwork on arrival. Once we were in the room, I realised I had stayed in this room before and wanted to change it. Room 314 is next to some kind of generator or something that is in a cupboard on the outside of the wall, in the corridor. It is extremely noisy and actually vibrates through the pillow whilst you are in bed. I am a very light sleeper and didn't get a good night. Mostly dozing off and waking. It finally died down about 6.30am. I did ring down but the receptionist was unable to change our room. Also, we were told upon asking that they have stopped serving breakfast to the room. They used to do this so not quite sure why room service has been stopped. Room was clean. The iron in this room had some kind of plastic stuck to the plate from a previous guest and I stupidly didn't check and ruined a white blouse. Reported this to reception on checkout. I would stay here again but not in that room.

Rooms and amenities good standard, especially the gym which is well equipped. What lets this hotel down is the quality of the food from the kitchen. Under cooked, cold, not as detailed on the menu and my particular favourite, a Caesar Salad made with honey and mustard dressing cucumber and tomato !!

Tv wasn't working, coffee machine wasn't working, no towels, robes, slippers, tea or coffee in room. Stain on bedding. But tv and coffee was resolved. Shame we couldn't get into the pool for 3 days we were there.

Staff great and hotel suitable but on Sunday morning at 4am the aircon started to leak. this woke us up and took two hours to stop. My clothes were soaked by this. I reported to the duty night manager. He was very helpful but due to the hotel being full was unable to move my wife and I to another room. We were asked to put towels down and use a bin to catch water. We had no sleep from then on due to hte noise of the dripping water and had to check out at 9.30 to go home early. Check out staff unable to offer any refund on this for this night. I am very disappointed that despite being told the manager would call we have had no contact form the hotel since check out. As on 1.30pm on Monday 12 July we had no official apology or acknowledgment of this issue or the opportunity to discuss compensation. A shame has this has marred what was a lovely family weekend in St Helens.

Air conditioning shocking!

We booked three rooms for two nights. Charged for B&B when only asked for room only and the one morning we did go to breakfast it was disorganised. No plates. Slow service. Air conditioning in all three rooms that we booked didn’t work despite getting advice from reception on how to work the a/c unit. So overall we spent a lot of money on stuffy rooms and one breakfast sitting that was shocking! On a positive the Staff in the restaurant in the evening we’re really accommodating and have great service. Service at reception when checking out were disorganised and no so good.

Friendly staff, watched the England game on Wednesday in the bar and the atmosphere was wonderful and perfect night sleep. Only bad thing was the hook on the back of my bathroom door was broken along with a light switch and part of the cabinet (I was in room 211 for ref) I never mentioned it as it wasn’t a problem but it did show how stretched the staff are to turn around a room and I 100% believe this is due to covid which is not a problem for me and the staff can’t work miracles. Perfect location as well as I was there for work along with seeing some family. I will be back soon!

The room was dirty and some components in the bathroom were broken. As soon as you enter the room there is a bad smell and the ventilation in the bathroom (with no windows) was not working. Sheets were dirty of blood - presumably.

Arrived Saturday afternoon 26/06/2021 at around 16:30. We had to wait for over 10 minutes for someone to come to reception although a young lady had seen us an advised the receptionist that we were there twice. A queue had formed. Two receptionist then arrived. The one who dealt with us although polite wore a mask behind the reception screen which made it very difficult to hear and understand what she was saying. Apart from this hitch stay was very good as usual. Very quite room which was very clean. Receptionist in the morning of departure was very helpful. Would recommend this hotel to stay.

Noisy room

Our stay was spoiled by banging doors in the middle of the night. Initially we thought it was other guests but it turned out to be a staff member using a storage room opposite our bedroom between 3.30 and 4.30am. We spoke to him and he apologised but then did it again. Also there were shortages of towels and milk tea sugar which was soon fixed after speaking to staff. Rooms not cleaned on Sunday was annoying.

Relaxing night away

Husband and I stayed for one night as little break from the teenagers. Lovely hotel food great, facilities fantastic, only problem I have, pool spa shuts early on weekends :( night away would have liked longer, especially as we didn’t get checked in till 5pm. Also kids were sharing the changing rooms and pool so open later on weekends and for maybe an adult only hour. Also changing room issue, 1 cubicle in area hubby experienced young girl 5-6 ish being changed by her dad in the men’s changing room, he didn’t wanna be in room while that was happening and he didn’t feel right changing with her in there. Please give swimming lesson kids separate changing area. All in all lovely stay will be back.

Hotel in the town centre and is a couple of minutes walk into the town on a busy main road, there used to be a gate to cut through but this has been closed due to COVID . Room was very clean, with a fridge kettle and safe. Comfortable beds, good shower and clean towels. Cannot fault for the price, I didn’t bother with the breakfast bag as it’s not really worth the £10.
