Check in was fine with a pleasant welcome. Very disappointed that the restaurant wasn’t open for breakfast as sitting in the lounge didn’t seem appropriate.

I understand that the hotel was low on staff which meant waiting 45 minutes for a drink. The problem being is that I was told a few times that I couldn't order direct at the bar, but a number of people did order at the bar. Our room hadn't been serviced despite the sign being on the door & no extra towels as requested for swimming. Speaking of which, the pool grouting was dirty and the pool was too. Also while we couldn't order at the bar there was no problem of having lots of people in the pool and pool area. The staff were very nice though and did apologise for the delays, the room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. All in all I can't say I'd stay again.

Overall, very pleasant stay, nice facilities, pool and restaurant.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Appeared a little over-stretched at dinner time, and your team would have benefitted from a few extra hands to keep service moving, especially with the wedding on as well. Those who were there were doing their best. Food was good. Pool was nice and it was a pleasant and relaxing stopover on a long journey.

Awful Service

The service at this hotel is by far the worst I have had the displeasure to experience. On three separate occasions we had to wait over an hour to be served at the bar and at breakfast the coffee machine was out of service on both mornings and the wait for toast over 20 minutes which was most probably due to the lack of interest in any member of staff to go behind the counter and serve the dried bland attempt of a cooked breakfast

Well looked after

Nice suite

Anonymous Solo - 04/06/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

I booked and stayed for one night in a junior suite. I had made the booking online on Accor’s website. When I arrived to check in, a staff member from the bar made eye contact with me three times whilst I stood at the reception desk for over ten minutes. I thought maybe I needed to check in at the bar as there was no indication of anyone coming over to the reception desk, so I walked to the bar with my luggage. I explained I wished to check in and was directed back to the reception desk with the gentleman I had just spoken with at the bar. My online booking was not visible on the hotel computer system leading to some anxiety on my part about suite availability, however the gentlemen quickly resolved this once I provided my booking confirmation email on my phone. I was given clear directions to my room and advised regarding mealtimes in the restaurant and room service (both ending at 2030hrs). The junior suite was lovely. Clean, tidy, good temperature and all amenities except the extractor fan in the spacious bathroom were in good working order. I didn’t raise the issue of the extractor fan as it is a common problem in most hotels which I expect they are already aware of from their pre-booking room checks. As this was a junior suite booking, it comes with the additional amenities of a ‘privilege room’ so I was expecting ‘a range of soft drinks’ in the fridge. There was one can of Pepsi. Again, I didn’t raise the issue in case I was wrong as I have previously booked a king suite and found the fridge to be empty (therefore doubting myself). Looking back at the website however, it does clearly state that the suites come with a range of chilled soft drinks. Regardless of the drinks and the bathroom extractor fan not working, the suite was wonderful - spacious with a comfortable sofa and a comfortable bed, a working television, working lighting and working air conditioning.

the hotel was very nice and really nice rooms, the staff were very helpful and friendly, however, on the first day there was a wedding so the hotel was very busy, there appeared to be a problem with staffing, i witnessed irate customers angry because they had waited nearly an hour just to order food followed by an hour waiting. my party were waiting 30 minutes just to be served drinks. it is obvious that more waiting staff are required and that the cost of the staff would be far outweighed by the increased turnover. the second day was good during the afternoon but again it got busy at night and not enough staff. and again we found ourselves waiting for far too long for any service. finally the lack of staff had another downside. because the few staff that were working (very hard i might add) to keep customers happy none of the tables were being cleared of glasses and food plates etc, this gives a bad impression to anyone arriving.

we booked for a 30th anniversary weekend. The waiting time for food and drinks was totally unacceptable. We had 2 courses and when we asked to order dessert were told we were too late at 8.10! we then moved into the bar area and waited about 45 minutes to be served and then told anything 'coffee' was unavailable as the machine was out of action. what also was annoying was that food and desserts were being served to others until about 10pm!!

Ideal for mini break.

Check in was delayed by an hour and a half , gave us a drink voucher for the trouble. It was bank holiday weekend so the noise on the Sunday night was horrific when the drunks were coming in . Hotel not as clean as expected and breakfast not great , parking is expensive for your stay , but in general it's ok, reception staff are helpful.

It was an ok stay. Booked due to good locality to racecourse. Stayed a number of years ago but does not appear to have been updated since. Privilege room was a bit shabby, windows paper thin so you can feel cold and noise come through (eg birds in morning, traffic), pillows poor quality, bed hard and not uncomfortable but not comfortable either. Room was very clean & well equipped with sockets & traveller needs. The garden in courtyard upkept, painfully slow checkin (stood 15 mins before checked in even although quiet st time). Usually they charge for parking on top of rate but waived for guests that night. For a room charge of around £150 p/night, I expected nicer hotel. But location good for races, nice social bar area & conservatory, evening food good and reasonably priced. Alcohol very expensive and we had to clear away own plates. Turned up at 9-45am Sunday for breakfast only to discover it was over at 10am! They let us grab food but cold so very early stop time for a Sunday morning. If a weekday, fair enough. Overall disappointing stay in a shabby hotel. Pity they didn’t use lockdown to give rooms a like of paint and get rid of the awful horse race wallpaper.

Absolutely under staffed !!! Food and drink was table service only when we arrived . This fell into disarray when a wedding party entered the bar , We ordered breakfast to be delivered to our room , after the third time of asking we finally got the form to fill in . When the pre booked breakfast slot didn’t materialise my wife rang down to reception and got a reply saying they would chase it up . Not what you would expect from a Mecure Hotel

Checkin was slow and had to remind them of our early check in after been told to be seated as our room was not ready. By 11 the room was ready after I reminded them of our confirmation of an early checkin. The promo app is clearly not linked to the system as had to remind them about our complimentary drink as a member.

This is quite a nice hotel. Obviously these are strange times, and we had emails prior to arrival stating that masks must be work while going through public areas, but lots of guests seemed to be ignoring that! Room was nice (junior suite) but sofa bed wasn't made up when we arrived. Not a problem. WHen we came back in later - 9pm - told at reception that the sofa bed was broken so could we move rooms. Not idela with 2 tired kids in tow but OK. Got to new room - same style - but none of the goodies that come with the room were in it! Called reception a few times - no answer - not good. Eventually popped down to the bar for drink and told reception. Goodies arrived at 11:30!! Far to late to be knocking on the door.
