Reception were initially unaware of my visit having not read emails. Bar area and staff were good. TV had only two or three English channels and the rest were all in German. If there was a way of selecting more services with the remote control, there were no instructions to indicate this. There was a big oily patch on the bedroom curtains where a previous guest had wiped their face. The breakfast was only luke warm at best, although it wasn't late in the morning, about 7:00. The service and welcome at breakfast was poor. The breakfast table was sticky. The coffee machine in the room did not have proper instructions and the diagrams on the machine did not make sense, resulting in coffee granules being spilt and no cup of coffee. I am an engineer and know how to follow instructions. The room was spacious, which was nice. Pleasant artwork. I was not given a wifi code. Overall the hotel looked like it was an attractive building and could have been a really good place to stay, but was beginning to get shabby in some areas and had the feeling that standards were slipping. Priced at mid 80s for a room, I expected better standards and a sharper service. I didn't feel particularly valued as a guest. Nobody asked me if everything had been alright at check-out, or I would have told them.

I booked online though your Accor app and when I arrived the hotel was unaware of my booking. On entering the hotel on the Sunday afternoon there was music blaring from the tent in the courtyard and a lot of noise - more like walking into a club than walking into a 4 star hotel. Eventually I was given room 111 - when I entered the smell of mould hit me straight away - I rang reception and was immediately told they would change my room - there seemed no surprise about the state of it. I showed the receptionist pictures of the mouldy windows and mould on the blinds. Room 139 although there was no smell of mould there was a disgusting smell of stale food. I was heading out with clients that evening so I unpacked the bare minimum as I had no time to start moving again. So - bathroom - toilet set and hinges were filthy with pubic hair and dried in pee that had been festering for a long time, bath twos and shower hose and head all had mould on them - there were various grades of hair in the bath and the shower curtain was mouldy with the stench of stale urine. The sink again taps were mouldy, plug was missing and the overflow was black - the bathroom door was thick with dust. The fridge was filthy inside with again questionable hairs in it and the cups and saucers were stained with tea drips. The nespresso machine was thick with dust along with the lamps, skirting boards and doors. When I opened up the mirror in the dressing table there were food crumbs everywhere. The window was dirty and I found the TV removed under the dressing table - needless to say it stayed there I have taken pictures of all of these. Breakfast was questionable again and on checkout I was charged £10 for parking. I informed the receptionist that I wouldn’t been back and she seemed totally nonplussed - she gave me the GM’s card but seeing his generic responses on trip advisor to complaints it’s obvious he is not going to do anything about them. I used this hotel for a number of years when on business and it was on the decline before COVID but quite frankly it is now a health hazard. It needs a full management shakeup and a deep clean.

Second visit this year, first time since covid rules relaxed. Simple fiiendly check in, great ground floor room. excellent service at bar for drinks and dinner. Staff worked hard on a busy night. Good breakfast. Will be returning.

Very disappointing - corridors littered with left over room service, rubbish, and remained Un-cleaned through two night stay. TV in lounge of of the bedroom did not work throughout despite notifying the front desk. Room very very tired - hotel in dire need of investment.

No hair dryer in room. No TV remote in room. Inexperienced staff. Rooms and hotel certainly needs a refurb. Gardens could be neater. Outdoor furniture needs treating painting or replacing.

Restaurant times not were unsuitable for our needs. Clearly under staffed . I checked in online but had to queue as a wedding party also were checking in. Breakfast was a shambles had to wait in a queue for everything . Juice glasses,bread,butter,cups,bowls,sugar, condiments and milk in open containers in a pandemic. I got so fed up of waiting for bacon and sausage I went with out. My bed was like sleeping on a slab. So I'm sorry to say I won't be returning.

It was only an over night stay for a wedding so it was ok but if it was for longer not sure it would of been. Air con didn’t work in the room, we had switched it on soon as we checked in so it would of been cool for when we came back which it wasn’t and didn’t sleep well due to it being very warm. The window was open but that doesn’t open much which I understand with it being on the road and a low window which anyone could climb in if it was wider. We had to ask for more pillows as there was only 1 on each side which just isn’t enough. Couple of things was dusty like the kettle, tea & coffee tin which I think just holds so much germs a big tin just isn’t needed as you can see it’s starting to go rusty. The bathroom needs attention, tiles are in bad condition, toilet seat wasn’t on properly and shower heads was very grubby. Breakfast was a little messy nobody seemed to know what they was doing, one lady was telling us to just take a seat anywhere and another lady came running behind us asking if we’ve gave our room number in. Had to wait around for hot food just kept getting told “fresh eggs are coming, bacons coming out shortly” but was a long line waiting. Just little things need to be on point like 2 pillows on the bed or maybe couple extra in the wardrobe, no dusty kettles, checking on hot food so it’s always being replenished & maintenance on the air con. Prices of drinks are very very very expensive I really don’t understand how a hotel/chain can charge such high prices for drinks especially when pay a high price for accommodation and breakfast.

been before. good reception bar and dining areas. Corridors , room and leisure area looked pretty tired along with exterior maintenance. staff friendly. appreciated the hotel's willingness to reschedule us after we had to isolate earlier. good breakfast. nice size room and overall fair value for money.

Ideal location, dated hotel

The hotel was an ideal location for an event at Haydock racecourse which we were able to walk to. Hotel itself was very busy and as such a little unclean in communal areas (toilets, bar, corridors). Room itself was clean but dated and a little tatty for example the enamel was damaged on the bath in a couple of places with visible rust. Also lighting in room was a little gloomy. Bar was under stocked and pricey. No food available from mid afternoon to 5.30pm. Breakfast was a large choice but cheaper ingredients which were luke warm. I would recommend the hotel as far as convenience but not if you are looking for a luxury night away.

I have been using this hotel over a number of years and have slowly seen it decline. The overall feel of the place is extremely tired and dated, the rooms need updating in terms of decor, lighting, bathrooms, etc. Quality of food is very poor. Overall feel of the hotel is very flat.

Had a giid experience overall, just not a great nights sleep. The pillows were soooo flat, they hurt my neck, and the room a bit noisy til the music had stopped. That was fine, I’m not usually someone who winged but goodness me!! My neck killed for days afterwards. Bit a good sleep at all sorry

Excellent location as walking distance to Haydock Race course. Common areas (corridors, toilets etc) were quite dirty and would have benefited with a clean. Room was clean but a little shabby. Drinks from bar seemed pricey and limited choice, breakfast was a good selection but cooked breakfast items were cold and not the best quality ingredients. Overall all the stay was average for the money

Nice bar and lounge area. But hotel bathrooms need an upgrade. Very disappointed with breakfast. Staff at breakfast looked like they wanted to be anywhere but there. No hand sanitizer at the buffet stations. No bacon or eggs. Gave up and left.
