Lovely hôtel freshly renovated, I was very pleased with my stay there. Clean room, good shower and an amazing breakfast just 30 seconds from the metro. I’ll definitely stay there again!

I chose this hotel because : it was a Mercure, four star, the feminine pretty decor of the room, the feminine decor of the breakfast room and having Marais in the name. The room was so teeny and there was no closet for me to put my all of my clothes away, just an open shelf. The decor has been completely changed and was not the same whatsoever, nor the breakfast room, even though all the pictures depict how it looked prior to renovation. The night tables on either side of the bed, were much lower than the bed, which means one could lean over to place a book there, and fall out of bed! It was certainly not functional or realistic. There was no mini-bar or clock as stated for amenities in description. The worst part of all there was heavy maintenance being done to renovate that started early, and lasted all day, the men were very loud, and it was heard all through the walls, floor etc… the elevator was also very loud, small and used by maintenance. Housekeeping were also very loud amongst themselves, and parked their utility cart right in front of my door, so that I had to see it, with brooms, etc, not what you want to see on holiday. I had to change my room 3 times. The hotel was not at all in the Marais, or near the Bastille area. What was good? The staff were very nice, polite and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was very good and plentiful. The heated radiator with a self-time in the bathroom was wonderful as I was able to dry all of my clothes after hand washing. I also liked the magnifying mirror. There are restaurants within short walking distance

I have mix feeling about my stay. The pro: nice decoration room, the staff is exceptional friendly from the reception to house keeping team, location is near the metro. The cons: there is a renovation on going which mean there maybe drilling noise during the day, only 1 lift so you may have to wait a long time for it, there is no mini fridge in the room although they will provide if you ask. However, the room design has no space for the fridge so it will be put on the floor in the room. Hotel location is in resident area so it is far from main tourist attraction ( around 30m on train or longer in bus).
