It was good that the receptionist offered me the possibility of an early check-in and said she would call me when the room was ready. Unfortunately, that never happened. Later she explained that she was very busy. In that case, she shouldn’t have told me she would call, but instead asked me to come back to the hotel in about two hours to check if the room was ready. Another downside was the lack of a wake-up call. The receptionist said she would figure something out, but nothing happened. There was no initiative — for example, she could have called my mobile phone or knocked on the door.

Despite the wet weather the location was good for tourist activities. Short walk to restaurants and other tourist venues.

I would like to provide feedback on Evan at the front desk of the Mercure Cairns. Evan is consistently efficient, professional, and considerate whenever I check in. As I travel weekly from Mission Beach to work in Cairns, my stays are regular, and Evan always makes the experience seamless and welcoming. He genuinely greets me by my first name and asks how I am, which adds a personal touch that makes a real difference. I usually arrive early and leave my luggage at the front desk before heading to work. Evan ensures my luggage is delivered to my room before I return later in the day. It’s these thoughtful gestures that make me feel valued as a regular guest. I would also like to acknowledge Sarah from the afternoon shift. She is consistently accommodating and professional, and her friendly manner contributes greatly to a positive guest experience. Please commend both Evan and Sarah for their genuine, friendly, and high-quality customer service.
