After check in I was given extremely complicated directions on how to get to my tower from outside the hotel. The second directions I was given was through the car park, which I was told was easier and faster. I had four bags and was not offered any assistance. I struggled to open doors etc with all my bags. Once I got to the door of the tower I was let in by a 3rd party as I couldn't open the door with all my bags. I went to level 2 room 1, however the door didn't open. I went back downstairs and then was unable to exit the tower as I couldn't swipe out. I exited through a fire door and found myself on the street. I walked around outside, carrying my bags. I did not know where to go. I ended up entering through a car park door, however there was no lift. I had to walk up stairs with all my bags and ended up near the pool. I had to walk around further until I found another tower door, which I was able to open. There was no elevator, so again I had to walk up flights of stairs. By the time I reached my room I had been walking around for over an hour. I had cut my hands with my bags. The floor was very smelly, like damp mould. My room had a very loud dehumidifier running, which had signage on it saying if I turned it off I would be charged. This explained the damp smell in the hall but it was so loud I was unable to sleep due to the noise. Eventually in desperation at 3am I took a punt and turned it off. I slept fine at that point, but given I had to get up at 6am for work I was exhausted. In the morning I turned it back on and it returned to the same settings without any effort. Guests should be made aware of the dehumidifier when booking. It is outrageous to put people in this situation with no warning. I had to work, then drive 4.5 hours back to Townsville, on 3 hours sleep. It was dangerous and I felt completely blindsided by the situation. Also, there was no need for the staff member to give such complicated directions to the tower. The door to enter was next to Cold Rock ice creamery, if she has said that I would have walked straight there. I will not stay at Mantra Trilogy again.
