I informed the hotel in advance that I would be arriving with my family, that my son’s birthday was on the day of arrival, and that we would be checking in close to midnight. Guest Relations kindly assured me that a small birthday surprise in the form of a cheesecake would be arranged. The reservation was clearly made for three guests. Upon arrival, there was no cheesecake. There was also no preparation whatsoever for the third guest, despite this being a spacious two-room suite. Apparently, both the birthday and the third guest were somehow lost between confirmation and execution. The following day, I expected that the oversight would be corrected. After all, mistakes happen. Surely by then the promised surprise would appear and the room would be properly arranged for three guests. Unfortunately, nothing changed. Additionally, several items in the suite were not functioning from the first night. I had rather optimistically assumed that suites in a hotel of this level are checked to ensure everything works before guests arrive. That assumption proved inaccurate. Only after I followed up via email did anything begin to happen. To be clear, this is not about a cheesecake. It is about attention to detail, honoring commitments, and maintaining the standards expected from a luxury property. If something cannot be delivered, it would be better not to promise it. And if a suite is sold at a premium level, it should feel like one. As an ALL Platinum member who travels 5–6 times per year and has consistently chosen this property in Dubai, always booking suites, I expected a very different level of consistency and care. This stay has significantly diminished that confidence. We celebrated my son’s birthday elsewhere and had a wonderful evening , fortunately, that part did not depend on the hotel. However, after this experience, Sofitel is no longer the automatic choice for our future visits. I will now seriously consider alternative options.

The hotel location is just perfect. Our 2bedroom suite was spacious and had a washer/drier wich is essential for a family stay. Half board meal plan was a bit unclear as no written details were provided. For me it was OK because I read some reviews before arriving and asked particular questions during check-in, but some other guests were confused with what was included in HB. They approached me (speaking my native language) with the question and were grateful for an explanation. My family enjoyed the food included in HB, it was delicious and beautifully decorated. Pool area is nice and comfortable, my kids had a great time swimming there.
