Dear Management Team of SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding an unfortunate experience we had during our checkout at SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, which ultimately resulted in a double charge and left us with a disappointing final impression of an otherwise wonderful stay. We stayed at your hotel for our honeymoon and truly enjoyed our time in Dubai. The facilities and overall experience at the hotel were excellent, which makes the issue we encountered at checkout even more regrettable. As SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences is part of the ACCOR group, we did not expect this level of service or handling of a guest issue, and this added to our disappointment. On the day of checkout, a staff member asked how our stay was, and we replied that it was very good. When it came time to pay the Dubai tourism fee, I provided a different credit card from the one used for the deposit. According to my credit card app, a charge of 40 AED was successfully processed on January 15, 2026, at 23:58:21. However, the staff member insisted that the payment had not gone through in the Opera system and stated “No joke,” repeatedly claiming that no payment had been received. I showed the staff member my credit card app clearly indicating that the transaction had been completed and suggested that this might be a system error, asking them to investigate further. Despite this, the staff member insisted that the issue was with my card and maintained that there was no problem on the hotel’s side. I made it clear that I was not blaming the staff personally and only wanted the issue properly checked and resolved, but no effort was made to do so. I then requested to speak with the duty manager. I was told that, as it was early morning, only two staff members were on duty and that they themselves were the duty managers. Unfortunately, their attitude suggested that there was no intention to resolve the issue on the spot, and instead, I was repeatedly told to simply pay again with another card. As we were on our honeymoon and did not want to leave Dubai with a negative feeling before traveling to our next destination, we chose not to argue further. We paid the amount again using the credit card originally provided for the deposit, and before leaving, we made sure to receive the staff member’s name and the receipt. Until the very end, we were told that the initial payment had not been processed in the SLS system. However, upon returning to Korea on January 23, we confirmed that the hotel had indeed submitted a charge request to the card company for the card that was supposedly “not charged.” As a result, we were charged twice for the same tourism fee. Currently, my credit card company has officially initiated a chargeback request and is asking the hotel to cancel one of the charges. While our overall experience in Dubai and at SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences was wonderful, the checkout process—and in particular, the attitude and handling of the situation by the staff—was deeply disappointing. This was especially unfortunate given the reputation and service standards we associate with the ACCOR brand, and it left us with a negative final impression of our honeymoon stay. I kindly request your assistance in resolving this double charge promptly. I would also appreciate it if this matter could be reviewed internally so that similar situations can be prevented for future guests. Thank you for your time and attention.
