Well situated comfortable hotel. A gentle 10 minute stroll from the cathedral. Parking opposite in the huge secure car park is excellent. No restaurant but plenty of options in the neighbourhood, advisable to book though. Breakfast offers a comprehensive buffet featuring local delicacies and the usual fare. Room was comfortable and slept well.

Initial room was not good. Dark with a small window facing nothing but a wall. All the outlets were fried and didn’t work. The refrigerator was broken. The phone didn’t work. Jada at the front desk late at night, helped me immediately and was fantastic. He promptly switched me to a much better room facing the front street that was far superior and more comfortable. He even let me borrow an electrical multi port strip and a universal adaptor for the week. Jada and Noelisse were standout employees at the front desk and they saved my experience. I only wish it was made clear on the website, especially in booking.com and Expedia that breakfast is NOT included. It felt deceptive to say that it was on these websites when it is certainly NOT.

We had a brief overnight stop between Calais and Tours and the evening proved a splendid start to our latest French break! We have stayed at the Chartres Mercure before and took the opportunity to use our car satnav to pilot us into the centre and the underground car park just in front of the hotel. The road layouts (like most towns and cities these days) have changed but everything was absolutely spot on! The Hotel is charming and quiet (although right in the centre) and we strolled to the Cathedral square to find a delightful restaurant en pleine aire - our holiday had begun!
