It's an Ibis!

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

rufa09 Couples - 29/11/2019 TripAdvisor review

We chose this hotel because of its location just off the Chartres ring road. However, it was quite difficult to find as it is several turns off the main road. Once found, it has a large car park and trolleys to carry luggage. It does not have a lift so if you have a lot to carry ask for a ground floor room. Rooms are standard Ibis and quite small. Dinner in the restaurant tasted good but we found our chicken portions to be small. Service was variable. One of the waiters was great while the other tried to do as little as possible.

Another Good Stay

We stayed for one night on one of our regular trips between England and France. We travel with our dog and cat and the ground floor room is very convenient for them and we appreciate the secure grounds. Breakfast was much the same as usual but there was a new item, a homemade cake which looked good. It would be nice if there was a little more variety but nevertheless the continental breakfast provides a good start to the day. Dinner was good, particularly the salads, although the waiter initially overlooked our wine and water until reminded. We preferred the individual menu cards which used to be provided, rather than the menus on the blackboards as at present so it would be good if the previous system could be reinstated. The room was to the normal standard for this hotel at a very reasonable price at this time of year on a Sunday. We have already booked our next visit!

A comfortable overnight stay.

There seems to be a change of staff. The new ones seem ok but not as friendly. Restaurant menu is expensive for a main meal, basic 3 course only one choice.

restaurant food downhill again

Andy Couples - 02/11/2019 Confirmed reviews ALL

staff friendly and helpful, no issues room okay, decor a bit tired but clean and bed comfy. restaurant service no problem but food itself a let down. For example main course of salmon fillet overcooked tasteless and dry for both of us and veg. not much better. salad pieces okay but not enough to save it. we travel with a small dog and although well behaved we don't feel it right - for her nor other guests - to leave her in our room alone too long, so prefer to eat in house. We thought the restaurant had been improved here but whilst the young man serving us was great the food for dinner itself was sadly lacking. If the cook can't cope on a friday night with only about 4 people in, you've got a problem! It was like this on our last stay a couple of months ago too, so not an isolated incidence. breakfasts are fine by the way in fairness.

Ibis Luce provides exceptional service from the moment you check in. All rooms we have used have been excellent. We have stayed as a couple and as a family group on many occasions. There are no negatives at all. It is our first choice on our usual route through France because we know exactly what we are going to find. Exceptional restaurant for choice of food, especially fish, and the courteous manner of the staff.

Chartres is the city we stop at on our way through France heading for the ports to GB. The hotel is easy to find and is clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was tasty and well presented. The breakfast was self service and as much as you wanted to eat. Staff are very helpful and friendly, all speak English but it’s great to practice your French with them. The city itself is lovely especially the area around the cathedral.

Not the standard we had come to expect at this hotel.

Arrival reception good. The room was not very clean, hairs in the bath and a stained pillow case on one of the beds. Arriving at breakfast at 9am at lot of items were running out and were not being replenish, all very disappointing and not your usual standard.

1. The car park barrier should be shut 2. The door lock battery should not be allowed to go flat and lock guests out of their room

Overall ok, we were met by a lovely receptionist, who went overboard to help, on check out although polite the receptionist offered no more than taking money. Our room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom the same, there was however a fault with the bath tap, it was not fitted securely to the bath, when you made the effort to lift the handle to enable the shower, everything moved, it was necessary to hold dirt the tap while lifting the handle!

Comfortable hotel.

We had a stop-over in this Ibis hotel The car park was free of charge, the staff was friendly. But on the other hand the room was small and in need of some renovation, and the carpet is needing a cleaning!! We had booked the room with evening meal and breakfast buffet as proposed on their web-site, the evening meal was only a “Salad & a small peice of pork meat”, the soft drinks were in cluded in the price, but as we did not take the soft drinks, we ordered a glas of wine and a beer! They have counted us the full price from 12€ without discounting the price of the soft drinks we did not took. The other morning we went to the breakfast buffet who offered not a great choice, and there were no cheese slices, we asked somebody of the staff if there was no cheece, and after a while he went back and the answer was “There is no mor e cheece”!!!!! and this at 08h00 in the morning, thank you. Then we went to the balcony and asked to pay for the drinks of the evenig meal, and they presented us a bill from over 40€, and they were not pleased when we said it was a wrong bill. This is the last overnight stay in the Ibis group from which I am a member, we get a better service for less money in otrher places.

Excellent welcome & food - whole night very noisy

Main problem was our room immediately above reception. All night, until 5.15am. Wedding guests returned noisily to the hotel, often talking loudly smoking, etc just below our window. I had no sleep and still had to drive home all day after breakfast. Very disappointing.

The staff were very friendly and the room very clean and comfortable, the re was ample safe parking a trolleys to use to move luggage. Unfortunately there was no gluten free bread for breakfast despite pre ordering the night before and the hotel advertising it catered for those gluten free - if we hand had gluten free bread I would have marked our stay higher.

Excellent service and very attentive staff even though we arrived late

Have no complaints at all - see remarks above. My only criticism is that it was very difficult to find the hotel, which is why we didn’t arrive until 10pm. The address of the hotel that we had on the printout wasn’t recognised by the sat nav

Hawkeye11_24 Couples - 25/09/2019 TripAdvisor review

Receptionist very efficient and cheerful, and the room was comfortable. However, it didn't look as if the bath had been cleaned properly (there was a dirty line around the interior) and the soap dispenser over the basin needed replenishing. We had an evening meal as usual but the cooking was not up to usual standards and service was very slow (quite a few tables to serve)- frites undercooked and salad a bit lifeless.

Short staffed for a busy hotel

Peter Couples - 24/09/2019 Confirmed reviews ALL

My preference when I am on a car journey through France is to stay either in the IBIS Cathedral Centre hotel or else in the more comfortable Mercure, which is even more central, but without its own garage/parking. Ibis Lucé was busy and understaffed for both dinner and breakfast. Its understaffing needs attention.
