We stayed for 3 nights. On the first evening we were greeted at midnight by a member of staff banging on our door and trying to gain entry to which my naked wife stopped him but he still insisted on trying to enter our room demanding that we were smoking, neither my wife or I smoke nor would we in a hotel room. My wife was shouted at “you are smoking you are smoking!” Repeatedly. Ten minutes later our smoke alarm fell from the roof triggering a hotel wide alarm to which all guests were evacuated but before we could even get out of our room we were again met by the same member of staff trying to force his way into our room again as we were trying to get clothing and our 2 year old safely out of the room. He kept demanding that we leave “now, immediately!” And tried to push my wife and I out of the room without our child. He then saw our fallen smoke alarm and said “oh fuck, okay go, go go”. At around 1am we were allowed entry back into the property with the entire lobby full of guests being told, “no fire, just a faulty alarm in a room.” My wife, daughter and I then had to change room at 1am. We were offered no help in this matter. We were also offered no form of compensation or acknowledgment of wrongdoing from the staff for one, wrongly accusing us of smoking, two, the direct attempt at forced entry with my wife being naked and three, the order to leave our room despite us repeatedly trying to push past the staff member to get to our child.

Dear Sir, We are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We would nevertheless like to clarify that, as the smoke alarm in your room had been damaged, it was triggered and activated the fire alarm throughout the hotel. In this type of situation, our team must follow the safety procedures in place and enter the room promptly to check that there is no danger and prevent any potential risk of fire. Our team therefore did its best in these circumstances to ensure the safety of all our guests. For your comfort, we also arranged for you to be moved to another room following the incident. We nevertheless regret that the intervention was experienced negatively and thank you for sharing your feedback.
