Disappointed

Joanne B Couples - TripAdvisor review

We booked here as we wanted to use the fitness room facilities, and these were closed for the 3 nights we stayed here. When asked when they would be open, staff member said they did not know, nor did they try to find out for us! Then, we wanted to use the laundry facilities. However, they only took cash/coins to use the hotel laundry. We asked if we could pay them by card, and they could give us tokens/coins as we had no cash, they said it was *impossible". Very unhelpful staff. Unable to get room cleaned more than weekly.

The area where the hotel was located was perfect. It was near to restaurants, stores, pharmacies and churches. The room was very clean and comfortable. It provided everything you could possibly need from a large walk in shower to a kitchenette with a refrigerator and equipment to make tea or coffee. I was most impressed with Salwah, the front desk person, who helped as with everything from providing suggestions of places to visit to writing down directions to take mass transportation. She made our stay very pleasant. Her ability to communicate in English fluently facilitated all interactions. This was very comforting in a foreign country.

Both good and bad

I did a heap of research trying to find a hotel with an Eiffel Tower view that didn't break the bank, this is what lead me to book this hotel. I'd never stayed at an Adagio property before but being an Accor member that frequently stays at their properties, I figured it would be held to a certain standard. We paid 165 Euros per night which was miles cheaper than other Eiffel Tower View hotel rooms. Upon arrival, we were early so planned to use luggage storage and come back at check in time. Their website stated they had luggage storage but no other details. The reception was incredibly busy and they were slow to help us (something I noticed was constant throughout our entire stay). They had small items for sale next to the reception desk (snacks, toiletries, etc) and I will definitely admit that I felt uncomfortable having condoms on a shelf right next to my eyeline while checking in. I immediately thought I had made a mistake and booked into a hostel instead. Once checked in, they advised our room was not ready yet (expected) and directed us to the 2nd floor luggage storage. Never in my years of travelling all over the world, have I actually paid for luggage storage. The storage is a room full of paid lockers that ended up costing us 14 euros to store our bags for the three hours until our room was ready. Nowhere on their website does it say you have to pay for luggage storage so I definitely wasn't impressed, but we didn't have a choice. We also ended up having to pay the same amount on check out day because our Eurostar was booked for 6pm. When we were finally given access to our Eiffel Tower View Room, it looked exactly like the photos on the website, except for one glaring difference. Adagio has obviously photoshopped the images on their website because the view was clear in the photos, but a massive heating chimney was partially blocking our view. This obviously wasn't a new addition to the area so the photos are deliberately misleading. We could still see 90% of the tower so I couldn't be mad at the price we paid, but I find it quite deceptive of the hotel to advertise a full view. The room was fine for our two night stay but I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here for a long period of time, if you like space. We are happy walking everywhere on holiday so the location was ideal being within 10mins of a metro station and also 20mins of the tower itself. All in all, the price was good for what we got, the location was good...however due to the misleading information and average customer service, we will be staying somewhere else next time we visit Paris.

Dear Jessica, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad that you found our views of the Eiffel Tower and competitive pricing to your satisfactioWe aim is to provide memorable experiences at a value that our guests appreciate, and we are pleased that these aspects met your expectations. However, we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced with the luggage storage service and the view from your apartment. We understand the importance of transparency and accuracy in how we present our aparthotel, and we regret that you found the promotional images to be misleading. We also apologize that the service speed at reception did not meet your expectations. We always strive to provide efficient and courteous service, and it seems we fell short during your visit. For the luggage storage, we will review our communication to ensure our guests are well-informed about the facilities and any associated costs. Nonetheless, we are pleased to hear that our location served you well during your time in Paris. Being situated within a short distance of the metro station and the iconic Eiffel Tower is something many of our guests find convenient, and we are glad this was the case for you as well. We look forward to welcoming you back. Best wishes, Elie El Hayek, General Manager

Good location and great breakfast. While we were there the elevators were atrocious and always down for maintenance, the pool was out of commission, and every drain in the unit sinks and tubs drained slow or overflowed. Good location for families and fully equipped kitchen but without basic essentials (salt, pepper, sugar, oil, complementary coffee/tea in the room, shampoo or conditioner) means you'll have to hit the store for all basic essentials you did not bring with you.
