The Bencoolen is one of our favourite Ibis Hotels. The room size works OK for a couple - for a short stay, and the staff, breakfast and location are all great. Have stayed here many times over the years, and have never had a bad experience.

The Hotel is well placed to access places such as Bugis Street, Arab Street, Sultan Mosque, Little India, Mustafa Centre etc by few minutes of walking. There is a big bus stop in front of the hotel. There is a 24H Indian Food shop on the opposite side of the hotel at 2mins walk.

good: - affordable compared to competitors - responsive and smiley staff - food okay ish. Main issue with providing large quantities for many customers at once is that you have to let it in hot pot, which makes some food soggy. Best is when you have the chef who cook it on the spot, on request, in front of you, which is what they do in more expensive hotels. bad: - mattress topper uncomfortable - baby crib, missing floor pieces, no mattress available, we ended up making one with blankets. - old fashion, stained corridor carpet, would need a renovation - AC would need renovation. It was noisy impossible to sleep with it on overnight if you are a light sleeper, humidity was inconsistent in the room.
