Urgent: Security Incident Report - Ibis Budget Singapore Selegie Stay (September 4-7, 2024)

Danica M. Friends - Confirmed reviews ALL

Good day, I am writing to report an incident that occurred during our stay at Ibis Budget Singapore Selegie from September 4, 2024 to September 7, 2024. The booking was made under my name, Danica Louise M., and we were assigned Room 205, which is designed to accommodate three persons. On the morning of September 7, 2024, around 3:38 AM, we experienced a distressing situation. Someone repeatedly rang the doorbell of our room. Initially, we thought it was a mistake, but the persistent ringing made us anxious. Shortly after, our room phone rang, and when my friend answered, the caller asked, "Is this Room 205?". Given that it was late and we were exhausted, my friend mistakenly thought we might be in Room 201 and replied "no". When I got up to check what was happening, I noticed a key card on the floor near the bathroom door. The sleeve of the key card indicated Room 610. Initially, I thought that someone might be ringing our doorbell because we were mistakenly in the wrong room. However, I soon realized that if we had the wrong key card, we wouldn't have been able to access our room. Assuming the key card might belong to us and had simply fallen, I initially ignored it, thinking it might be an error on the part of the front desk that I had overlooked. A few minutes later, we received another phone call asking again if it was Room 205. This time, my friend answered "no" still under the mistaken impression that we were in Room 201. I was unable to immediately confirm our room number because I was focused on the key card I found on the floor. The doorbell then rang repeatedly, with someone aggressively pressing it. Feeling unsafe and panicked, my friend called the front desk. Unfortunately, there was a delay in their response. When the front desk finally answered, my friend explained the situation. The front desk promised to send someone up. Soon after, the doorbell rang again, and someone identified themselves as being from the front desk, asking us to open the door. My friend questioned why we needed to open the door at such a late hour. The person wouldn’t explain what was happening and told us to just open the door so he can explain. Feeling anxious already, we insisted on not opening the door until he explained. Around the third time we asked why we needed to open the door, the person then stated, “There’s a key card inside your room on the floor. Can you check?” That’s when I realized the key card on the floor was indeed the one they were referring to. After checking, we found that our key card, which had Room 205 on it, was on the bedside table. My friend then slightly opened the door and handed the key card that had Room 610 on it to the staff member. At around 8:30 AM, we checked out of our room and reported the incident to the front desk. The staff confirmed that the occupants of Room 610 were with those in Room 206, which is directly across from our room. Later, a group of about seven men approached the front desk, reporting that one of their friends was missing. Another staff member confirmed that the group in Rooms 206 and 610 had been intoxicated the previous night, which explained the noise. Despite the disturbance, we decided not to file a complaint at that time. We overheard them admitting that they were responsible for ringing our doorbell. Unfortunately, we did not have time to stay and discuss the matter further as we needed to leave for Malaysia. Given the situation, we are concerned about the security implications of having a key card from another room inside ours. It is unclear whether this was an accident or something more serious. Additionally, the key card was found not just by the door but near the bathroom, which raises further concerns about how it ended up there, as the hallway is carpeted. We request an explanation for how this key card ended up in our room and what measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. This situation caused significant distress and raised serious concerns about the security protocols in place. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and let me know how it will be addressed. Thank you for your attention to this issue. We look forward to your prompt response Sincerely, Danica Louise M.

Dear Danica, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand that our Customer service manager had already responded to you on email with our explanation. As mentioned in our email, we had completed our investigations through an extensive check on our hotel's CCTV and what happened was that the guest from Room 610 had accidentally dropped the keycard onto the floor and unconsciously kicked it into your room through the small gap underneath the door. Rest assured that the safety and security of our hotel guests is our top priority and we also want to reiterate that there was no attempted entry of other guests into your room at the time of your stay. Nonetheless, please accept our apologies for this unfortunate incident which had affected your stay experience with us. We hope this isolated incident will not mar your impression of us and sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again.

the service is very unfriendly. My taste for breakfast disappeared instantly with the bad treatment of the breakfast staff. better to have breakfast at a local restaurant.

Dear KARTIKA, Thank you for staying with us. We are surprised as many of our guests had left positive reviews for their good breakfast experience at our partnering restaurant. Nonetheless, we will share your feedback with our restaurant as we continually look to improve our guests' experience. It is our hope to welcome you back in the near future. All is bad Room Humidity Awfull breakfast Noise. I ve lost 690 SGD !!! I booked for 4 nights but I prefered live this nightmare ... I m a silver member of all accor I complained but never received answer Be aware of this hotel !!! Hope Accor will keep out the label ibis budget at this hotel

Dear Philippe, We are surprised as our Front Desk had not received any complaint directly from you on your first night stay with us. Many of our guests have found our hotel to be great value-for-money with our strategic location, clean and comfortable rooms and the warm service from our accommodating staff. Our rooms do not have any humidity issues unless you had turned on the aircon at extremely high or extremely low temperature which will cause condensation. We understand that my customer service team had already responded to your email request and explained that you had booked a discounted offer which comes with a non-refundable policy. This is similar to booking an airline ticket with a non-cancellation policy. Warm Regards, Roland Guest Experience Executive
