Dear ibis budget Singapore Selegie / Guest Experience Team, I am writing to formally complain about our recent stay at ibis budget Singapore Selegie from 4–7 September 2026, which unfortunately fell significantly below the standard we expected when booking directly through Accor. We paid S$349.92 for our three-night stay and, as Accor members who booked directly through the Accor website, we were particularly disappointed by the number of issues we experienced throughout our stay. There were several separate problems: The advertised rooftop swimming pool was unavailable during our stay. We were instead told that we could use the pool at a sister property approximately five minutes away. While we appreciate that an alternative was provided, this was not equivalent to having the advertised pool available at the hotel we had booked. After spending full days sightseeing in Singapore’s heat, having to walk to another hotel in order to use a swimming pool was a significant inconvenience. The mattress was severely sagging in the middle and provided very poor support. This was not simply a matter of personal preference regarding mattress firmness. The bed visibly and noticeably sank in the centre and was uncomfortable to sleep on. Following the stay, I have developed significant back pain and what appears to be a trapped nerve, which I believe may have been aggravated by the condition of the mattress. Noise from the neighbouring room was extremely disruptive throughout our stay. The sound insulation was so poor that we could clearly hear conversations and activity from the room next door, which repeatedly disturbed us during the night. This resulted in very poor sleep throughout the entire three-night stay. I have video evidence demonstrating the level of noise coming through from the neighbouring room and can provide this if required. The shower was also extremely difficult to use. The shower head was positioned at such an unusual angle that the water and steam were directed over our heads and onto the shower door rather than appropriately into the shower area. We therefore had to remove/hold the shower head manually in order to shower properly. Taken individually, some of these issues might be considered minor. However, taken together, they substantially affected the quality of our entire stay. In particular, the combination of the defective mattress and severe noise disturbance meant that we were unable to get a proper night’s sleep throughout our stay. I appreciate that we did not report these issues to reception during the stay. We were travelling on a short itinerary and, at the time, did not anticipate that the problems would persist for the entirety of our stay. However, having now completed our stay and experienced the cumulative effect of these issues, I feel it is important to raise the matter formally with you. I also have photographic/video evidence that supports the issues described above. I would therefore like to request a partial refund of 50% of the accommodation cost, amounting to S$174.96, as a reasonable resolution given the extent and duration of the problems we experienced. We chose to book directly with Accor and expected a reasonable standard of accommodation and service. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet those expectations, and I would appreciate it if you could review the matter and consider our request for compensation. I would be happy to provide the video evidence of the noise, as well as photographs of the mattress and any other evidence you require. Everything was fine and just like expected. Good shower, friendly staff. The only thing I would complain about is how thin the walls are, can hear everything the room next door was doing/talking and people in the corridor. Maybe it’s not like that in the rooms with windows.

Good location about 10 minutes walk to Little India MRT. Friendly staff and has a rooftop pool which is handy in humid weather. Could not believe how small the room was. I used to work at a prison and the prisoners had bigger cells and even had windows. Breakfast was included so with the price reform value for money for Singapore which is not a cheap location.

The stay was not so comfortable as the water heater was not working. The room is very compact but thats understood. The lobby was packed with cleaning trolley and we could not move with baby stroller. The cleaner was not co-operative.

We chose this hotel for its convenient location near MRT stations, which made getting around Singapore very easy. While the room was decent, it felt quite cramped for two people and would be more suitable for solo travelers. Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stay as there were days when our coffee cups weren't cleaned, complimentary tea and coffee weren't replenished, hair was still left on the floor and in the bathroom, and even the tissue roll wasn't replaced. Overall, the location was the hotel's strongest point, but the cleanliness and housekeeping experience could be improved.
