We stayed at Sofitel Dubai The Palm for six nights as a family, celebrating our daughter’s second birthday. The resort itself is beautiful, with lovely swimming pools, beach facilities, and an environment our daughter genuinely enjoyed. Unfortunately, the overall hospitality experience did not consistently match the standards we expected from a five-star luxury resort. Our reservation was made through Visa Luxury Hotel Collection, which included VIP recognition, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability, and a USD 100 Food & Beverage credit. The reception staff were polite and pleasant, and I appreciate their courteous manner. However, our VIP status was not meaningfully recognised or explained. Obtaining a suite with an improved view required considerable discussion and persistence rather than a proactive explanation of the upgrade benefits associated with our reservation. One particularly disappointing aspect was the atmosphere at the breakfast restaurant. The team members welcoming guests at the entrance were friendly and professional. However, there appeared to be an unusually large number of supervisory or managerial staff wearing formal suits throughout the restaurant. Rather than creating an atmosphere of attentive hospitality, several of these individuals came across as aloof, overly self-important, and disengaged from guests. Their constant presence did not translate into any noticeable improvement in service or personal attention. At times, their manner felt more authoritative than welcoming, which was particularly disappointing in a luxury hospitality environment. This distinction matters: the frontline employees often demonstrated more genuine warmth and hospitality than those who appeared to be their managers. The USD 100 dining credit was also omitted from our final invoice despite significant restaurant expenditure. I discovered the omission after checkout and had to submit a formal complaint. To the hotel’s credit, management subsequently acknowledged the error, apologised, and confirmed that a refund had been initiated. Food and beverage prices were exceptionally high, particularly for ordinary soft drinks and children’s beverages, which detracted from the overall value of the experience. In particular, a drink listed as “fresh juice” and priced at AED 41 was served as carton juice rather than freshly squeezed juice. This was misleading and did not reflect the standard expected from a luxury resort. I had expected the juice to be freshly prepared in front of me. While the physical resort and family facilities are commendable, the consistency of hospitality, managerial attitude, attention to detail, transparency in menu descriptions, and recognition of confirmed booking benefits require substantial improvement. Luxury hospitality is not demonstrated by the number of managers walking around in suits. It is demonstrated through genuine warmth, humility, attentiveness, and making every guest feel valued. Unfortunately, those qualities were not consistently evident during our stay.

Firstly, as someone who used to worked in this industry under the same parent company I always look forward to being on the other side of things. We were welcomed by Lorenzo at the reception very pleasant engagement with him. He created a very natural environment that allowed us to have such an organic conversation. Gave me Duty Manager vibes not sure if he is one but reckon he would be a good one. Extend us an upgrade and late checkout so thank you . Explained all the facilities even though I mentioned I come along to the spa still took his time to familiarize me and my partner. Love it. Only feedback restaurant closing all at the same time a bit inconvenient if your on half board and want to eat out 11 PM is a bit too early . Lovely hotel will be back as per usual. I must say i like Sofitel, whenever i stay in Sofitel my expectations are higher to be honest. I choose sofitel this time as I dont want to risk anything for my stay, Being said that my experience was a mix of good & bad, welcome was bad had to announce my arrival no such welcome but then taken care of later, as a compensation i was provided with an upgrade which i would say was the best part no doubts. Facilities were great pool timming were awsome. Beach was full of algae didnt like it as its beach front property but cant get it as it was too much green. Club access was ok as i believe snacks should be available through out thier openning hours and buffet items need to be enhanced in my opnion, i was little disappointed by the variety of foods in premier lounge, had to choose manava for tge breakfast which was a great experience 10/10. Kids club and kids pool need more enhancements i guess. Even though i was staying in opera suite but one of the AC was cooling enough so i did suffer with lack of sleep honestly, but compensations were given by hotel which was great. So my overall analysis few areas need to be improved and expected to be 5 star not every time guest needs to call to get the attention. But staycation was good but not something i would say extra ordinary.

Overall very good. Slight hiccup with my room as I booked the 1 bed sea view room but was given a resort view room. This was rectified after the first night. Hotel is clean and loverly the buffet restaurant let's it down with poor choice and lack of fruit options. Staff are very good but are over the top, being asked if your food is ok 6-8 times while eating is to much. On check in i did experience a bit of a hard sell to upgrade to premium didnt like no as an answer but 1600 egp was a little rich. Had 2 rooms as first was a rubbish view and def not a palm view that I paid for, cant see how you get a palm view on the 1st floor looking a wall and it smelt of mould. 2nd room was a lot better and a higher floor for view.

During check-in, your staff refused to take a card and deposit and said it was not needed. I couldn't charge any purchases to the room during the stay, I had to pay immediately for all drinks, dinner and spa treatments which was awkward and had to go back to the room to get my cash / cards several times. I Booked 2 spa treatments and again couldn't charge it to the room and offered to pay on the day. On the day I checked out and had 20% discount applied to my room and the spa reception refused to give me discount as I had already checked out when the day before I could have just charged it to the room. It seems this resort is interested in volume and quick turnaround over quality compared to other 5star resorts in the area. Several staff said please come back and I genuinely do not know if I would.
