The room what in a very sad state. The first thing you notice when walking in was a strange stench in the air. Various items around the room were in need of repair and made the place feel neglected eg. sink tap loose, cover over shower sump broken, grease build up on the chain to raise the blinds, cover missing over the light. The facilities were very minimal eg. had a hob to cook on (but no cooking equipment), no toilet brush, no dish cleaning equipment. Basically made you feel like no-one really cared about the room beyond cleaning the surfaces, making the bed and providing towels.

Extremely small spaces, and very old looking, it was very tough to move around in the room for one person. The electric heater was rusted, disgusting look, inoperable.

Unfortunately, my experience at ibis Auckland Central was very disappointing. The location is good and convenient, but the room itself was far below what I expected from an ibis hotel. I chose this hotel because I trust the Accor brand and have stayed at ibis hotels in different parts of the world, usually with very good experiences. Unfortunately, this property was completely different. The room was extremely small, there was an unpleasant smell, and the windows were very small, making the room feel even more confined. I specifically asked for a table because I needed to work during my stay and was told that this would be arranged, but unfortunately nothing was provided. The bathroom was also disappointing. There was no proper shower enclosure or shower box, just a curtain. The biggest issue for me was that the room felt like somewhere I could only enter when I wanted to sleep. It was not a room where I could comfortably spend time, relax, or work during the day. I had originally booked 11 nights, but because of the overall experience, I reduced my stay to only 3 nights and decided to move elsewhere. It is disappointing because I specifically chose ibis because of my previous positive experiences with the brand. Unfortunately, based on my experience at this particular property, I would not recommend ibis Auckland Central.

Bed was comfortable, location is good however the big step up to get into the bathroom is not ideal, blind was mouldy, room was light and noisy but I would expect noise being in the city centre.

Overall our experience was very disappointing. The staff were not particularly friendly & helpful. Room had a cooktop but no pots to cook with; a phone that did not work & we were told to just use our mobile phone to ring front desk. Bed needs replacing as it was most uncomfortable. Generally the room was in a rundown condition. We hope the hotel addresses these concerns to improve the experience for future guests.

We thought it was a nice stay, overall. But we were disappointed with the fact that the room didn't match the description in the booking. It said there was a kitchenette in the double room studio but there wasn't. I feel like the bathroom could be a little bigger. But other than that, the balcony was the best feature of the room. Bed was comfortable. Perfect for a couples stay or even a single person stay. Would advise families to avoid staying here, as the rooms are barely big enough for two people.
