My stay at the fable was okay. When we arrived the reception area was moved to the restaurant which seemed a bit overwhelming. We had booked a valentines day package which included a King Superior room, upon check in we were told the room was changed to a Junior suite with no further explanation. When we arrived in the room it had a strong damp smell and the carpet between the bed and bathroom was damp which was disappointing. My husband didn't want to make a fuss but given the price we paid I expected better. The dinner that came with the package was delicious but again I was taken by surprise at changes made by reception again and sadly we missed out on what was probably a great entree. The food, drinks, and service of the restaurant staff was top tier and the atmosphere with live music made for a wonderful valentines day evening. The buffet breakfast the next morning was pleasant but there seemed to be an abundance of flies around the food which was concerning. Aside from the damp room and poor communication from front of house staff I would probably stay at fable again.

The problem was is I paid for a junior suite we were never able to use the TV in the living area. it was reported the first day I was there they sent someone and he said sound bar is broken. Oh maintenance went home a half hour ago. They’ll be back tomorrow to fix it. The next day no one has fixed the TV. I called the front desk again says oh I’ll send the maintenance to your room. The gentleman comes. He says I’m not maintenance. I don’t even think they’re here on the weekend. He tried to look at it and said the sound bar is broken. We were unable to use the TV because there was no sound and I don’t like that. They appear to lie to me say it’s gonna be fixed the next day when maintenance people aren’t even there, etc

It’s nice boutique hotel with excellent amenities and touch of 5 star hotels. I was surprised that when I said on booking that I am Executive Housekeeper of 5 star hotel in Brisbane I wasn’t acknowledged or have a card in my room or any amenities? I also was surprised that bar is closed at 9pm ! I travel to all countries in the world and no one is close at 9pm especially if you are 5 star and you want your guests to rate you high . Apart from that I like the hotel and location.

Food is amazing at Cooke’s and the Love Story package was great value. The bed is also super comfy - great for two parents in need of sleep. Improvements: the shower was stuck on HOT, the spa was out of order, the restaurant lost our dinner reservation (but did find us a table so this was fine) and I think the package inclusions could be marked out better - we bought a mini bottle of red from the mini bar thinking it was our complimentary drinks.

Waited 30 minutes to get checked in. Room air conditioning not working, so there was a free standing unit. When we arrive the extractor hose was in the room so the room was hot from that. We managed to get it sticking out the window which then gave us street noise, along with the noise of the unit. We did not sleep.

Had an amazing stay with Fable Auckland - the staff are always amazing, attentive and the rooms are just divine. Thanks Mark for the special treatment as always - one the reasons I keep coming back to Fable Auckland :)

easy check in, quiet room, friendly staff

The location was ideal but there was mold on the curtains in the bathroom and on the floor . The room overlooked air con units and could hear guests slamming doors all night.

We waited for over an hour to check in at 2pm (the time we told the hotel at booking that we would arrive) we then got fed up waiting and left to go get a see some sights and returned at 5pm when we waited an additional 20minutes to check in. Before we left we asked the concerige if we could leave our bags. We gave them to him. When we returned the bags (and a fancy dress on a hanger) were crumpled in the corner of the foyer completely unattended. Anyone could have walked in and walked out with our bags. When we checked out, our colleagues had their car returned via vallet parking with damage done to the car. The room was fine. The service was appalling.

My room had AC out, so had a mobile unit which worked with window open, however when I got in there there were heaps of mosquitos that had come in due to the window open and the light that came off the mobile AC unit. Room was nice aside from the above, well set out, clean and comfortable. Location is good for business, as at lower end of Queen Street, so accessible to everything. Staff were great. Breakfast left a bit to be desired to be honest, but overall good experience.

Of a 5 night stay, 3 were spent in rooms with nauseating odours. Check-in : I arrived late at night after calling to advise of this. During the phone call, the individual advised multiple self-parking options but noted the valet would not be on site. On arrival, the reception attendant insisted only valet was available and to park right outside the door. I did so, brought my bags to the room, and found it with a terrible odour and no working sound on the TV. The reception attendant then called me to move my car on to the street, well after midnight after having already changed. The valet option was insisted upon, despite being $50+ for less than 6 hours use, as I was returning the car following a meeting that morning. Another room was offered due to the smell and malfunctioning TV. My Accor account was not listed despite booking with it, with the attendant committing to adding it. Rooms: The second room was no better, with the odour causing nausea and headache. I asked multiple times to have this remedied, to no urgency. Someone brought up an aromatic mister, which did nothing to alleviate the source of the odour. The lady who assisted this day was very helpful, finally, and noted that the mister should never have been put in a guest room. The air unit was also flashing a fault in this room noting the filter needed replacing. My Accor account was still not added, nor were any of the amenities offered. I was finally moved to a lovely room for the 4th and 5th nights, which did not have an odour. It was, however, above a late night bar which was playing loud music outdoors until 2 AM. Regardless of the noise, the move was much appreciated as I could finally spend more than the bare minimum in my room, but I cannot understand how the hotel could operate with such foul odour to cause nausea and headache.

My room was really well appointed, clean and stylish. The location in downtown Auckland was excellent. The room service and hotel staff were all super friendly and caring. It was very well priced too! I would definately come back again.
