Late check in 2am due to flight arrival. Had checked in online so got key card at reception, no welcoming greeting from male receptionist who was more interested in continuing his chat in a room off the desk with his male colleague. Up to the 9th floor, card won't open door. Down for 2nd key which also wouldn't work. Down again to reception, receptionist came with his master key which took about 3 attempts to open door. Now about 02.20. Get in room.. I had booked a twin room as myself and my brother sharing, both over 60. They had issued us a double bed! Very angry but not going down a third time to reception as checking out again that morning so had to make do. Now difficult to sleep because annoyed. Then at 08.45 cleaner knocking on door to see if anything needed. So literally not 6 hours in the room when she is knocking. I did speak with a very pleasant female receptionist on check out at 11am who was very apologetic.

The location was very convenient for the airport and the NEC was either 15-20 mins walk or shorter if you make use of the Airlink shuttle between the airport and the train station. The shower and toilet of the room is built into what looks like a separate prefab section that is on a raised step. Potentially hazardous for those with mobility issues. No idea why the

Lovely stay while waiting for our flight the following day. The hotel was quiet, clean and well equipped, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which had a good selection and was just what we needed to set us up for a long day of travelling. Would definitely recommend for a comfortable and convenient overnight stay.

Doubtless the word ‘competitive’ will form part of any company reply, but a one night stay at a simple Ibis hotel really shouldn’t cost £135 for one night? Ok, it was my choice, but I paid through gritted teeth due to no transport on the morning of an early flight. Onsite bar had people queuing, single file, (my current pet hate).
