We were attending a pre record of Strictly and the entrance we used was just across the road from there hotel. We rang ahead and were told we could have early check in. The room was very comfortable, sadly we didn’t have time for breakfast the next morning.

Overall the communal hotel spaces and the room felt tired and in need of a refresh. The room I booked was listed as a family room with an additional small bed. The actual room was small with no extra bed. The breakfast plates are too small. They're clearly designed to encourage guests to eat less and save the hotel money. This is the first time I've expericed this cynical shrinkflation at a hotel. However, all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall: A budget hotel that does exactly what it says on the tin — no frills, no drama, and no surprises… which, frankly, is all I want at 11pm when I’m half‑asleep and clutching a key card like it’s the Holy Grail. What I liked Friendly staff — The team were genuinely lovely. The kind of people who make you think, “Yep, humanity’s alright.” Quick check‑in, no fuss, no interrogation. Clean rooms — Spotless. Not a rogue crumb, not a mystery stain. Housekeeping deserve a medal or at least a strong cup of tea. Comfortable bed — Surprisingly comfy. I lay down expecting “budget bed vibes” and instead got “I might accidentally nap for three hours.” Convenient location — Close to everything you actually need. Shops, food, transport… basically no excuse to be hungry or lost. Good value — You pay a sensible price and get a sensible stay. No nonsense, no hidden surprises, no need to remortgage. What could be improved Room size — Cosy. And by cosy, I mean “don’t swing your arms unless you’ve signed a waiver.” Fine for sleeping, less ideal for interpretive dance. Noise levels — You might hear the odd door slam or corridor shuffle. Nothing dramatic — just the soundtrack of hotel life. Breakfast variety — Decent but basic. If you’re expecting a Michelin‑star buffet, you will be disappointed. If you’re expecting toast… you’ll be thrilled. Summary A clean, comfy, friendly, no‑frills hotel that delivers exactly what you need for a short stay. It won’t change your life, but it will give you a decent night’s sleep and a stress‑free check‑in — and honestly, that’s half the battle.

The hotel is in an excellent location for Elstree Studios. The rooms are clean, comfortable and, most importantly, quiet. Check-in was seamless, and I received a very warm welcome. The hotel car park is quite small, with space for around 20 vehicles, but the hotel is within the Civic Centre car park, and reception provides a parking pass if the hotel car park is full. Remember to register your car at reception. If you have an EV, there are two chargers in the hotel car park, but during my three-day stay I was unable to use them because the spaces were occupied by non-EV vehicles. Asking the staff about this met with "Nothing we can do". I initially wondered why the bar area was so quiet in the evenings, but I understood why after eating from the bar menu one night. In my opinion, the food was not cooked or served well, and the evening staff would benefit from better customer service training. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel for accommodation. There are several restaurants on Borehamwood High Street, about a 10–15 minute walk away. Breakfast is buffet-style and was acceptable, although next time I would probably eat breakfast elsewhere, despite the convenience.
