Having been to London many times before, with more than a dozen stays in the Paddington area because I tend to use the Heathrow Express from LHR, I am more than familiar with the average size of hotel rooms and my main priority is to find a room where we both manage to at least open our suitcases. Well, this was a bit of a struggle in our standard room with king bed at he Mercure Hyde park, but at least there was a sign informing us that "there is extra storage under the bed". We definitely needed that space! Staff at reception was very friendly and helpful and we lappreciated the complimentary soft drinks in the fridge that were refilled daily. Once, houskeeping had taken away all the used towels and forgotten to bring new ones, but a call to reception quickly solved the problem. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so I cannot comment on that. Overall: a very small room, but quiet and at a very convenient location.

Overpriced and tiny room

Booked a room for 3 adults and chose this hotel as it offered a room with 3 single beds. When we arrived the room was tiny and the 3 beds were in fact 2 singles and a roll away. The room was nothing like the photo. The 2 single beds were pushed up next to each other and there was no room to separate them. Might as well have been a double and that’s exactly how it felt when we slept in them. As we weren’t a couple it was very awkward. As for the rollaway, it was placed horizontally across the bottom of the 2 singles so you could only get out of 1 side and your head was adjacent to the other persons feet! There was nowhere else to put it. Again, nothing like the photos. When you got up there was so little room at the side of the beds you stubbed your toes on the rollaway. I already thought the room was overpriced but this was ridiculous. There was only 2 of everything for a room booked for 3. I rang reception and requested a 3rd mug tea and coffee etc. when we got back there was an extra mug and that was it. Only 2 tea bags and 2 coffees. 2 bathrobes and still 2 of all other amenities. Went to reception only to be told there were no more teabags they’d run out! Gold status not acknowledged apart from a drinks voucher. This was also disappointing as unless you liked red or white wine or a beer there was nothing else available. Location was ok but not great. Staff were pleasant. Wouldn’t stay again.

It was a pleasant stay but even I was aware that the room would be small, they are smaller than I expected when I was upgraded already. It gave me the feel of staying in a hotel room in Tokyo Japan which are famous for their sizes.
