Not upfront with breakfast charges. Additional traders charge is not mentioned it is 3 pounds + for room service. I did not request room service, you insisted. The staff need to be more welcoming.

One night stay on business/leisure, originally scheduled to stay in the Mercure Paddington but that was closed in response to nearby construction and the associated noise levels but not disappointed with the alternative. Easy check-in, clean, warm room albeit on the small size, often a feature of London hotels but had everything required. Restaurant closed due to restrictions, room service meals were available but didn't take advantage of them.

What's the line on how long you have to make a first impression? Well the really helpful lady was great on my check in, polite and cheerful, as was the lady on my check out as I ran for the train. I like that. I think my Christmas jacket helped! Room was great and the hotel is very close to Pddington meaning I could run and catch the train!

Turned up at Mercure Paddington to find a couple of drunks urinating in the doorway. It was clear that the hotel was building site. Had to go to the Marriott down the road and the team there helpfully explained that the hotel had been closed for months, but that there was another Mercure (Hyde Park) down the road. I needed to ring up Mercure head office and get the number for this hotel and they confirmed that they had my reservation. If only someone had told me beforehand! My email confirmation made no mention of the change of hotel - and my interaction with the two drunks left me with a poor impression of the Mercure brand. TBH, there was not much of an apology from the Mercure staff when I eventually managed to check in. Definitely felt like it was somebody else's problem and not their fault. Poor experience all round.

We stayed at Mercure Hyde Park, we were made to feel very welcome on arrival by your staff Nuno. The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially Nuno and Gabriella. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again the future.

Firstly I want to make clear this review relates to the Mecure Hyde Park as Mecure moved my original reservation to there due to “maintenance”. When I arrived as a pre checked in Gold Member I expected my pre check in to have been completed, my preferences to be acknowledged and my key to be ready. This is always the case even since Covid at your lesser rated Ibis brand, but no - I had to reregister despite doing it all in advance spending longer at reception which seems silly as it prolonged the time at reception rather than the quick experience it normally is. My request for a high floor was ignored and I was allocated a low floor room with no window. I had my voucher for a drink so later in my stay I asked for a glass of red wine - they had no red wine! Again not an issue for the Ibis! So I went up stairs to make a coffee in my room, I opened the tea caddy only to find the coffee sashet had already been used and put back upside down - so much for deeper cleaning as is promised the box had clearly not been checked. The one receptionist I dealt with was business like and cold not the warm service I often receive at the lower Ibis brand. So please consider before you pay more - you get better service at an Ibis and pay less. Yes the room itself is better and you have individual toiletries at the Mecure but cleaning is not as good and in the current climate which is more important.

Last week I booked a stay at the Mercure Paddington London hotel through the Hotels.com website. The next day I received an email directly from Mercure stating that due to maintenance work the hotel was closed and my booking was being moved to the Hyde Park hotel. This was just a few minutes away so only a minor inconvenience. I do, however, have some more substantial complaints. When I booked the hotel, it stated that a free mini bar was included in the price. However, this was not the case and I was wondering why? When we arrived in the room, the toilet had been used and was not flushed which made us doubt the cleanliness of the room. Luckily we had brought our own antibacterial products and so cleaned it ourselves. We were only there for two evenings so didn't expect our room to be cleaned during this time due to Covid measures. However, upon returning in the evening, we found that the room had been tidied. To know someone was touching our things in the room was unnerving during this time. It was also strange that there were only two pillows on the bed (one per person) and only one spare in the wardrobe. Getting more pillows from the receptions caused some hassle. Additionally, the television had very poor signal and would cut out for about 10 seconds every couple of minutes regardless of the channel. While the stay was somewhat nice, these things caused some discomfort and anxiety.

We were changed from the Mercure Paddington to Mercure Hyde Park 2 days before our visit. The Hyde Park was beautifully refurbished and in a lovely location. Staff very friendly and room was excellent. Highly recommended
