our first room was 419 - lovely room, until the shower from the room above leaked into our shower. The female staff member on duty at the time was lovely and arranged another room throughout the day and for our bags to be moved. When we returned to the hotel in the evening we were given the keys to 209. The room was very small with a tiny bathroom that was difficult to use. The bath was difficult to get in and out of, and the towel rail on the wall was loose as clearly people are using it to assist in getting in and out of the bath. When I questioned this room with the male staff member on duty, he was rude and condescending towards me and was not interested in helping me, stating that "I was lucky to have any room at all". He tried tell me the rooms were the same size and were just a different layout. Overall we were very disappointed with our stay and in particular with one staff members attitude towards guest services. All other staff we dealt were really good and we liked the location of the hotel.

Great service and attitude from everyone. The room was nice with a Nespresso coffee machine, but despite an upgrade I got a very narrow bed, and the wifi was not very fast. Small but well equipped gym.

Great stay at the Mercure Paddington. Very welcoming staff. Lovely little bar downstairs. Like with most Mercure hotels, the rooms are quirky and the flooring and pipes may be a tiny bit noisy but that's part of the charm. There is double glazing to muffle the noise coming from the outside. The area is great and busy, with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. During my stay the breakfast was in a nearby chain restaurant due to renovating the hotel restaurant, and slighly below par, especially the buffet. The bathroom in my room was in need of a bit of upgrading but that's a detail.
