Arrived to be checked in by a friendly team member and enjoyed a comfortable welcome drink in the bar, despite the best efforts of the Peroni pump! Returned to my room and ordered Room Service via the app, at 20.04 - which remained pending for some time. Called Room Service over 10 times without reply. Eventually Reception answered and promised to check with the F&B team and update me. No response. Several more unanswered calls to Room Service, before Reception again stepped in to tell me my order would be 10 mins. 1hr 42 mins after I ordered, my meal was delivered by a very flustered waiter. Their excuse was the World Cup the occasion of which apparently was a surprise to them. All it would have taken was a call to manage expectations, and give me a chance to change my plans. None of that happened and I enjoyed by dinner at 10pm, which meant sleep was less than perfect. Next morning, my shower flooded, the entire bathroom floor soaked due to a blockage. Maintenance were there quickly to resolve and whilst this stuff happens, it summarised a distinctly average stay. Upon checkout I reported my displeasure and am due a manager to get in touch. I recognise stuff happens but all it takes here is some 'guest first; thinking. Sadly this felt very transactional at Novotel London Waterloo, and I felt like an irritant.
