We booked this hotel because of it was walking distance to the train station, it could accommodate our family bed needs, and the price was in our budget. We were pleasantly surprised at the overall quality of the facility and appreciated the spacious rooms, fast elevators, fridge and coffee, and access to the small pool and fitness center. Our only concerns were our inability to control the temperature in our room, and there was no safe available. We had read many reviews from disappointed customers and decided to take a chance anyway and are glad we did.

Older furnishings but comfortable room in a really central location. Really long wait times when needing to access the front desk staff to check in or ask questions, with some staff being quite rude. I had a mini fridge in my room that was not cold and was told there was nothing they could do, that most are not designed be cold anymore despite there being a sign inside that said 'fill this fridge with your own items.' I was staying for a week and needed to keep food cold so ended up needing to store these items in a staff fridge behind the front desk, so very inconvinent for everyone involved. Elevators also stop working when the hotel is busy. After checking out, I came back to collect luggage from storage and I read the number on the receipt they gave me, but the same staff member who'd taken my luggage a few hours earlier wanted to see the original tiny paper receipt that he'd given me and would not accept the receipt number or photo of the receipt. Fortunately I did find the receipt eventually in my bag, but this was stressful as I needed to leave for a train and the staff member was being unneccessarily difficult when I had proof of my receipt and had been a customer for the past 4 nights.

We queued twice to check in on a Saturday. The first time we waited 30 mins at 5pm and the queue did not budge so we decided to just drop our bag with the trainee receptionist. There was only one guy doing the checkin while the trainee was standing there totally helpless. We came back to check in again at 7.30pm and it took another 45 mins before we got served. The same guy was standing there on his own!! How could a 4-star hotel have this kind of experience!!! I felt really sorry for the solo receptionist but at the same time I wondered why he didn’t try to call for emergency help!?!? I have travelled a lot for business and leisure over the last 3 decades, and I have never experienced anything like this before!!! Fortunately, the hotel room allocated to us was on a high floor, well prepared and clean. When we came back at around 11pm, there was finally 3 staff members at reception! Better late than never! I would have given a rating of 1 if it wasn’t for the decent room and the additional staff that came in the end. Note, the additional receptionist who came to support the solo checkin desk staff was very German: not smiling, not courteous (not good!) but really focused on my query and told others that he is busy with me (good!).

For at least my last three stays at this hotel, there has been issues with paying with my credit card. It indicates a network error. The staff says this often happens with credit cards from the UK. My UK colleagues also have had this problem. But regrettably, nothing appears to be being done about it. On this stay, I had to go through a number of credit cards before your system found one which didn't give an error, but that credit card also charges me more for foreign transactions. Otherwise the stay was very good.
