We had a pleasant stay at Novotel Freiburg and overall our experience was very good. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well located, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A couple of suggestions that could make the experience even better: Gym area could be better and add latest equipments. For families travelling with two children, it would be great if the hotel offered twin connecting rooms as an accommodation option. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this hotel to others visiting Freiburg.

Nice enough hotel with comfortable beds. Air-conditioned, though guests have no control over the temperature in rooms. It was comfortable for me. The wi-fi was spotty. Rooms need renovating (stained carpets; lack of outlets, not counting antediluvian ports that fit no modern equipment.) No safes, which I would expect in a hotel claiming to be 4 stars. Desk was understaffed--long line to check in; waits to ask questions.

I expect the staff at a four-star hotel to be properly trained in providing efficient and professional customer service. Unfortunately, the check-in process took approximately 12-15 minutes, with the front desk staff repeatedly going back and forth with questions. While they were courteous and polite throughout, the overall process felt unnecessarily slow and disorganized. The following morning, room service knocked on our door twice between 9:00 and 9:20 a.m. As a guest, I expect to enjoy a peaceful morning rather than feeling pressured to leave the room as early as possible. The room attendant was friendly and polite, and my concern is not with the individual employee but with the hotel’s procedures. I would expect a four-star hotel to have a system that informs housekeeping when a guest has checked out so that rooms are only serviced once they are vacant. I also found it disappointing that neither the General Manager nor the Housekeeping/Manager was available that morning. Although the front desk acknowledged our concerns and took notes, I have not received any follow-up or feedback. In more than 20 years of staying at Accor Group hotels around the world, this has unfortunately been my most disappointing experience.
