Theft at your hotel

During stay, on 29th Aug., I had theft incident. My laptop bag was stolen from the hotel restaurant area. The theft happened very quickly within matter of 45 sec- 1min. as I went to pick up food item from the breakfast counter. This happened on morning 8:10 am while I was having breakfast. My other 2 GSK colleagues were also with me when this happened. I kept laptop bag next to the table and my colleagues also had their purses and phones kept on table. As they left with their belongings hence spared. Following items were in the bag- • Office items - Laptop, laptop bag, charger, headset, GSK badge, notebook. • Personal items – Current and expired Passports (Indian), ING bank card reader, i-Phone charging cable, Reading glasses. Its big monetary loss for me and company's assets gone into wrong hands. My passport which is most important document while travelling into European country also gone. Hotel staff and manager were supportive and tried to help but there are basic flaws at the hotel. The CCTV cameras are focused to entrance lobby and not the big door exit which opens to shopping mall side. The hotel has pretty good reason for not installing the cameras as per local authorities and laws etc. I had registered police complaint with national police Colmar. Hope to get some things back at least. Overall my experience with Mercure Colmar Unterlinden was not satisfactory at all.

Very happy with my stay, room was neat and bed was comfortable, didn't hear any noise from other rooms, though definitely from the corridor. One thing I didn't like was how glaring the lights were on the mirror in the bathroom, and they cannot be turned off independent of the other bathroom lights. But that's a small issue. Decent spread of breakfast too, location close to the old town. Just what I needed!

Well placed, nice staff. No restaurant ( no need - direct in the center of Colmar) Large parking garage - difficult to access. Quite small room.

Hotel immediately next to the old city, perfect location to start local excursions in the region, Rooms clean, high quality beds, very quiet (had a room cote jardin). I particularly liked the gym, well equipped and day light.
