Disappointment, after several good experiences

This is a copy of the mail I sent you on the 27th of August: I need to raise a complaint to you, after the stay of my wife and myself at your Ibis Hotel in Horbourg-Wihr. I am a silver card holder, and before the Covid emergency, I happily used the services of your brand for both business and leisure needs. We checked in on Saturday August 21st, and checked out on Tuesday August 24th. No welcome drink voucher was provided. On Sunday 22nd, we arrived back to the hotel at 5pm, and found that the room was not made. We addressed the subject to the reception clerk, and he organized the room to be cleaned and available at 6 pm. Needless to say waiting one hour for the room, at 5 in the afternoon, was not what we expected. The day after, we arrived back to the hotel at 6 pm, and our room, once again, was not made up. We addressed again the issue to the reception clerk (the same of the day before) and with our great disappointment, he said that nobody would have made up the room “due to covid 19 rules enforced in the hotel”. He offered to change the room, but we refused because we would have had to move all our stuff from a room to another by ourselves, and we are in our sixties). We said no such rules were mentioned, neither at booking, nor at check-in. He said it was his mistake and apologized but he could not have our room made up, he could only provide us with clean towels. We asked to fill a complaint, answer: no form is available. We asked to talk to the manager, answer: manager is in a meeting. We said we deserved a compensation: no compensation was given. We are really disappointed, we feel we’ve been treated in a very unfair manner, we do not believe such rule is enforced, because the day after we traveled to the Ibis Styles centre in Dijon, we checked out this morning and the room was spotlessly made up all the days we have been there (and we have been offered the welcome drink). And in any case, if such rule was active, we should have been informed at reservation (and for sure, we absolutely would have not chosen a hotel that, in a pandemic period, decides not to clean and disinfect every room, every day) We believe we deserve a compensation for the discomfort we had during the stay, and we would recommend also to form the desk personnel to be more proactive and credible to the customers. We are in wine business and stayed at your hotel several times in the previous years, and we were extremely surprised by the good memories we had of the personnel in previous stays, and the current experience. We had hoped to stay there in June of 2020, but could not because of Covid travel restrictions. We could not get a refund and hoped to travel there this year, but again could not because of continuing Covid restrictions. We were unable to cancel and get a refund. We never stayed there and would like to have the charges refunded to us. Thank you.

At €210 for an overnight stay, seemed relatively high priced. Very basic, although acceptable standard of room. Room 22 was dusty with dead insects on the surfaces. Room not used or checked for some time ? Otherwise appeared clean, just dusty. Friendly staff on reception for check-in and check-out. Good quality breakfast with fresh breads.

We booked this hotel as a stopover for one night with my family. We requested 2 baby beds and chairs but there was only 1 of each available. This is strange as our travel agency (that is organizing family holidays) and they recommended to stay in this hotel as a stop-over, so I assumed they would offer more child-friendly amenities. Even the hotel was not fully booked and I didn't spot any other family with young children, I found it odd they didn't have more baby cots or chairs. The only baby bed was given to the second room as they had a younger child, but didn't come with a decent soft matress, only a hard shell to be placed at the bottom and even had some mould on it. Not very corona-proof. Due to the lack of the baby cot, our youngest son even fell off the bed that night, which made the full stay not very pleasant. The staff were all friendly though, however I felt they were understaffed as they seemed very stressfull.

Overall i think the hotel quality is lower than other Ibis. Food and beverage were very good, staff was excellent. Rooms are old and cold. -2°C outside so i had to set AC to 30°C to mantain 22°C. You can really feel cold next to the window. Thankfully and there was a heater! Walls and ceilings are very old fashioned and the bathroom is very poor and old. The whole hotel needs a big renovation. Not a good price quality relationship.

+The location was good as well as the personnel was really friendly . - we didn’t know room will be in -1 roof , hotel is old so the windows couldn’t protect us from the cold weather . Heating was also poor. As a result bad sleeping , we didn’t enjoy iyr stay at all.

stayed here regularly over 12 years. this trip was bad! Staff, as always, brilliant. Restaurant now seems to be a separate entity and is awful. Reheated salmon, dodgy house wine which was quite obviously a mix of dregs ...... a watery red served chilled ... a 2 glass carafe and i could not finish one glass. Room, clean but with door to adjoining room ... not soundproof ... sleep did not come easily. Air conditioning fan runs well but no cool air .... opened the window and admitted a horde of hungry insects. a truly awful stay

nice hotel in a very good place near Colmar the staff was very nice and helpful the room was nice and convenient. close to the hotel was a bio supermarket and places to eat. we ate one evening in the hotel restaurant's and was very disappointed, the food was not tasty and not hot enough and expensive.
