Centrally located with direct access to a public garage. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had arrived very early and all paperwork was done on arrival even though the room was not ready yet. They provided me with map and directions on where I needed to go for my afternoon job in town. I was also offered storage of my luggage until the room was ready. Design of communal areas and room was a little dated but everything was in good condition and sparkling clean. My room had a good size and I enjoyed having both a proper desk and chair for work and a little easy chair with side table to relax. Bed was comfy and the room quiet at night. There was also a kettle with some tea and coffee which was great. Apparantly, there should have been a bottle of water as well according to reception but as there wasn't I got a bottle of nice cold water from reception.

Good location and large rooms, just getting dated

The location is opposite the Porte Negra, and is a 5-10 min walk from the main rail station. It is a large hotel (for Trier) and the rooms are very big by 2024 standards. They have a lot of places to sit (lounge, two chairs) and the bathroom is also large. There is also plenty of hanging space and storage. Service was quite friendly. At some point in the past, it must have been a splendid hotel, but is now getting a bit dated, and the safe did not work and the space for a fridge is bolted in. The bed covers and pillows are not great - the king bed is two singles connected together with single doonas for each side. The hotel offers reasonable value and I'd be happy to stay again, though some time in the near future, the hotel will need renovation and I just hope it isn't cut into tiny, boxy rooms with no amenities or furniture, which is becoming the trend now.

Very big rooms though fading charms

The main advantages are the location, being a five minute walk from the main rail station and very large rooms. I imagine that the hotel was very glamourous some years ago, but it is now an ageing hotel with some charms. The rooms do not have a fridge - the space is now sealed sghut, and the safe wasn’t operative. The bed is an issue - there are two old single beds pushed together and there are separate bed covers for each, which are not nice for a couple. The room has a lot to offer with a lounge and two comfortable chairs, in an era when rooms are tiny and have no chairs or amenities. Ideally, the hotel needs upgrading and renovating but the cost is reasonable and it does offer good value. The staff were friendly and I liked this hotel more than the more modern, boxy hotels we stayed at in several other cities on this trip.
