We booked through Bongo (we received it as gift) but somehow we booked it for the wrong day! We decided to sleep in Trier on our way to Bavaria. The lady at reception was amazing and still accepted us and changed the booking. We didnt feel any bad vibe from her, it was really comforting for us (we had been driving for hours and still had more driving the day after). The room was amazing, possibly one of the best views! straight looking into Porta Nigra, very central. The breakfast was super diverse and delicious! The bar very welcoming for a drink as well. We totally recommend!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The house keeping were amazing. Just that the bathroom was cold at some point since it did not have a heater. Thanks again

We booked a room with a view on the Porta Nigra. These rooms are more expensive but we thought it would be worth it. When we checked in and went to the room, we realised that we got a room with a 'view' but on the carpark at the back of the hotel. As we cannot imagine that the booking systems used by Mercure do not indicate the type of room their guests are booking, we assume that the very unfriendly receptionist was not paying attention or worse ... tried to cheat. Our very positive impression we got at the Mercure in Koblenz the night before, changed completely to a very negative one of Mercure and Accor in general.

I sincerely apologize for the deficiencies and human errors that unfortunately caused inconveniences for you. It sure looks like there were some major flaws within the reservations department including the check-in procedures. Sorry to also learn that the behaviour of the staff at reception was less than satisfactory. I appreciate your honest critique which will be the basis for discussions within our local team - and a careful evaluation of the root of these problems. Rest assured that we will take necessary measures so that an experience like yours will continue to be the rare exception. On a personal note and on behalf of my team, I would like to ask you to come back once more for an opportunity to prove to you that we can do a much better job. The complimentary upgrade was a pleasant surprise. Very helpful and friendly staff, room with fantastic view, perfect location for all major sites. We travelled by car so the underground car parking worked perfectly for us. We hope to stay with you again next year.

I stayed at the Mercure Trier Porta Nigra for six nights during the Christmas holidays and everything was perfect the staff made me feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. My room was on the fifth floor yet it was comfy and was cleaned to a high standard each day and fresh towels and bedding was supplied the tea and coffee tray was replenished also. Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold buffet dishes and was very nice again the staff were on hand to tend to your needs. I will definitely stay with this hotel when next in beautiful Trier. Ps a special thank you to Luka but all the staff deserve praise.

The room and bathroom were big and comfortable. Competent and friendly staff. The ´quality´ of the toilet paper and the disposable cups provided for coffee/tea weren't to our liking. Also, if I had done the check-in before and provided my details why was I asked to write down the same data again at the counter?

It was nice but the room was too hot as the heating was constantly on. Booked a double bed for my wife and I but it had 2 separate mattresses and 2 separate duvets.

Very good and efficient front staff. Very warm welcome. Hotel looks like a 1970's building which as never been upgraded. Roms are extremely clean tough.

The hotel ist located in opposite of the porta nigra and the old Town. The stuff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. For some days or to visit Trier it's your hotel. The hotel is a little bit older, but you will miss anything, ex a gym perhaps. The breakfast is more than we have expected. The price of 16 euro per person is well for a 4* hotel. A recommended are an omelet which you get a la carte.

Mattresses and pillows were very poor quality. In fact, my mattress was so flat on one side that I kept falling towards the floor. On complaining, the mattress was replaced. Better than the original but poor poor quality
