Comfortable Stop Over

We needed somewhere to stop over for a night on the way back up from Rome to the Eurotunnel - this layover left us with a manageable second day of driving. The hotel is close to major roads and thus easy to get to. What the site doesn't tell you (at least as far as I could tell) is that it is located within a clean air zone which means you should probably have a crit-air sticker for your car. We only realised this when our route planner told us we would need one. You can't get these stickers in person but have to order 24 hours in advance for an email which you hope will work - more for a paper copy delivered to your home address. We ordered one online on the day of travel and hoped this email trail would be sufficient if we were stopped. The hotel itself is easy to find. The car park slightly less so. Our roofboxed car would not fit in the underground carpark (always read the hotel blurb carefully!) but did fit when the roofbox was removed. The garage is small but secure with a large electric roller and pedestrian access from within the hotel. I would say it was ideal when your car is full of stuff and you want to sleep without worrying about it. The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment - although other than some building materials in the foyer this did not affect our stay. We had booked 2 bright and airy family rooms with bunk beds. We actually got 2 rooms with 1 double and 1 single bed. They worked for what we needed but were not the bright airy rooms booked. Much more blue and functional than the pictures on the website. Bathroom was clean and the shower worked well. The room had air conditioning but it was quite noisy and we had to switch it off. The night and morning staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We didnt eat breakfast at the hotel - although we would recommend the bakery just around the corner from the hotel - fabulous croissants, coffee, sandwiches and service. We would recommend this hotel for a stopover or if all you want to do is sleep or watch telly and recover from a days sightseeing. Not sure I would want to stay there much longer than a night or two.
