We had a disappointing experience at Ibis Budget Bruges. We booked two triple rooms several months in advance and even completed online check-in a few days before arrival, so we expected everything to run smoothly. Unfortunately, on arrival there was confusion with our booking. The hotel initially thought we had requested one triple room and one room with a cot, which was incorrect. After some discussion, they did allocate two triple rooms, but the issues didn’t end there. When we entered one of the rooms, we discovered it was already occupied. This was quite shocking for both us and the guests already inside, and clearly a serious lapse in room management and security. We returned to reception, and it took around 15 minutes to resolve the situation. Eventually, we were given another triple room, although we were told it was the room the other guests should have been allocated. In addition, one of our rooms had a blocked sink, which we had to report. On a positive note, the hotel is conveniently located for visiting Bruges, making it a practical base for exploring the city. However, the check-in issues, room mix-up, and maintenance problem significantly impacted our stay. Overall, while the location is good, the organisation and room management need considerable improvement.

Before making the booking, I called IBIS to confirm if early check-in was possible, as I was travelling from the Netherlands. I was informed that early check-in would be allowed. However, when I arrived at 12:00 PM, I was denied check-in and asked to return at 3:00 PM. Even though there were locker facilities available, we were not properly guided to use them and were instead asked to come back later while carrying our heavy luggage. The reception staff was unhelpful and came across as unfriendly. We were not even offered a place to sit or wait. The room itself did not meet expectations for the price: Room size was very small for 2 people Cleanliness was poor, especially outside the shower area The toilet had no proper lock and lacked ventilation Considering the price, there are much better hotel options available in Bruges. In fact, we stayed at another hotel the following day at a similar price, and the experience there was excellent. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay and one of the worst experiences I’ve had.
