On 5th May after checking into the room and settling down, I was in the WC of the room. There was the male maintenance staff coming into the room with a master key. As I can only hear everything from inside of the WC, I voiced out from the WC to remind that there is a guest already in the room and asked the person to leave the room. The staff did not seem to speak English. I was already stressed and called the reception to understand what really happened. The receptionist apologized that there was miscommunication and the maintenance staff was planning to check the shower which should have been done before a guest checked in. After the call, I checked the shower and the shower head is strangely missing. So I called the receptionist to send in the maintenance staff again and fix it (the receptionist offered to come along with the maintenance man but she did not). The maintenance staff was totally unapologetic and whistling throughout his check to the bathroom entirely disrespecting a female guest's presence. First, he barged into the room with a master key without waiting for response from the guest. Second, the room was not ready to be used by the guest (shower head was strangely missing. Was that an pre-arranged excuse to barge into the room while any female guest was inside the room???). Third, the disrespect from the staff. I was extremely dissatisfied throughout the stay and diverted my attention to my business trip. I look forward to the response from the hotel's management.

Unfortunately I somehow felt better at an Ibis in Avignon a week before. I had greater expectations from Novotel, but the toilet and bathroom was not properly cleaned. The room and bed were just fine, very confortable pillows and matress. The breakfast was good, but I do not understand why there are no boiled eggs (not to do it yourself)...weird policy
