No water pressure. Flow completely stopped at times. Woken in the middle of the night by a fire alarm. Noise from guests running through the corridors was significant.

Rooms are dated (who wants to connect to the TV with a VGA cable these days), and have a slightly unusual layout (handbasin in the room corridor and 'mini bar' in the wardrobe), but the double glazing worked well and the room was comfortable.

The Novotel Canberra was rated 4.5 stars on the Accor Plus website, it may have been 4.5 stars in its heyday but its tired and outdated now–definitely not 4.5 stars. We stayed in an Executive King Room, the decor was outdated and the bathroom was old-fashioned and rudimentary. The carpet in the hallways from the lift well to the room was worn and dirty. The hotel was conveniently located in the CBD, which is about the only thing it had going for it. Although this brought challenges with parking in the area being very limited and hotel car parking was expensive.

Check in and Parking were a nightmare. Not enough staff. No wine on arrival as paid for in package, then when we went to find it, the wine was billed for a second time. King room was worn but comfortable.

That said, I do sincerely apologise for the challenges you experienced on arrival. The issues with the self check-in and the lack of clear direction regarding car park access are not the first impression we aim to provide, and I understand how frustrating this would have been—especially with a busy check-in period and having to move your vehicle twice.
