At 1am we waited an hour and 30 mins to check-in to what turned out to be a prison room. We were told ‘it’s the same for me’ by the guy on the check-in desk after he kept walking off to deal with anything other than checking people in. We were given a code to the door which surely could have been provided earlier seeing as we had paid and checked in online. Once in, the room stank of smoke. The shower head was broken. The fire alarm covered in tissue paper.

For a budget hotel, the inside is clean, and we asked to be placed on an upper floor for a birthday — they happily accommodated us. Thank you. The location is convenient, but the nearby market can feel a bit intimidating. Although, for some people, this might actually be a plus.
