We stopped off here at the start of a five day journey to the south of Spain, and it started extremely badly. We checked in by a machine at the door and later left the hotel to get some dinner. I caught a glimpse of a dog in the corner of the reception area as we were at the door. Within seconds it attacked my dog, which was extremely traumatic for us and him. The lady owner was unnervingly calm about what happened, inferring it was our dog’s fault he was attacked because he is a male. Adding, he has the run of the house as it is their home. When we returned from dinner the dog was outside, still off-lead, with the male owner. The dog once again came towards our dog but was thankfully called back by the owner. We didn’t sleep all night because our dog was crying in pain from an injured tail sustained during the attack. By some miracle we found a Veterinary clinic nearby the next morning who treated our dog with an anti inflammatory and antibiotics enabling us to continue on our journey, we will forever be grateful to them. We then had to face the seven hour second leg of our journey sleep deprived, angry and upset that our dog was in pain. Needless to say we didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as we didn’t trust the owners to keep their dog away. I am writing this review primarily to warn other dog owners who may book here, but also to make the owners aware that an apology would have helped a very unpleasant situation. Their laissez faire attitude angered me more than anything and they need to understand that the property, whilst their home, is a business with paying guests.

Our dog was on his lead and was attacked by the owners’ dog. They were not apologetic and said it was because our dog is male and that the hotel is their home. When we returned from dinner the dog was still off lead and came towards my dog but luckily was called back by the owner. We were too worried to go to the dining room for breakfast and had to find a vet the following morning as our dog’s tail had been injured in the attack. We specifically booked Ibis hotels for our journey to and from Spain but I would advise any dog owners to give this one a miss, as the owners seem to view the property more as a home than a business.

Hello, We are sorry that you left with a negative impression of your stay. It is very likely that the language barrier caused a misunderstanding, and we truly regret that. We only meant to explain that tensions between male dogs can occasionally occur, especially indoors, and not to minimise how you felt. We welcome hundreds of dogs every year, and only two guests have ever considered our dog “aggressive” — solely because he did not get along with their own dogs. We also would have appreciated being informed about your visit to the vet, as the hotel is fully insured for this type of situation. After reviewing the camera footage, we did not see any bite marks, but that does not change the fact that we would have liked to support you properly. For your information, our dog spends around ten hours a day in the lobby, constantly around guests, and 99.99% of them — nearly 20,000 people this year — find him gentle, friendly and perfectly sociable. Even your partner, who was very kind, gave us €5 upon arrival for him — a gesture we truly appreciated. It is therefore difficult to understand how the welcome could be rated 1/10, as such a gesture usually reflects a positive and friendly interaction. Likewise, your 4/10 rating for value for money does not reflect what our guests generally experience, nor the services provided. We are a family-run hotel, which comes with advantages but also certain constraints: we live on-site with our children and our dog, who was part of our family long before we took over the establishment. We work from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and remain on call from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., ensuring continuous presence to offer the best service possible. It is unfortunate that your comment appears more intended to denigrate and harm our reputation than to reflect the reality of your stay. A single isolated incident cannot represent the quality of our work or the hospitality we provide every day, although we still take your feedback into consideration. We sincerely wish you better experiences in your future travels. Anthony

But.....with the temperature on the electrical heater set at 19.5 degrees that you cannot change...too cold for my taste !

We completely understand that 19.5°C may not feel warm enough for your comfort. Unfortunately, we are required to keep the heating set to this temperature by default. However, upon request, we are always happy to increase the heating and provide extra blankets if needed. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again on a future stay.
